Extractions: ACCUEIL DU SITE Accueil de "Diverses lettres envoyées" to Murray Perahia and Sony Short Description of the project At the beginning there was a bibliophilic book (limited edition) : The four-handed piano with poems by Michèle FINCK and photos of a piano painted by Laury AIME. This book includes a poem about Murray Perahia : a homage to Murray Perahia. This bibliophilic book is now accompanied by a cd rom. This Cd rom proposes an interactive interpretation (poetry, painting, photography, voice, music) of the bibliophilic book The Four-Handed Piano (limited edition). You will find the texts of the 24 poems written by Michèle Finck, read out by the author and translated into three languages (English by Mary Ann Caws, Italian by Fabio Scotto, German by Angèle and Adrien Finck). You will find 476 pictures of the piano painted by Laury Aime (whole and details). These pictures are also animated and accompanied either by an extract of Mozarts piano concerto n°21 (soloist and conductor: Murray Perahia) or by the poems read out by Michèle Finck. You will also find the two prefaces by Jean Rouch and Maria-Luisa Spaziani, read out by their authors. Because there is a poem about Murray Perahia, I would like very much to include in the cd rom Mozart piano concerto n°21 (a large extract of the 1rst mouvement only) played by Murray Perahia. It would make much sense to use his interpretation then use another one played by another pianist: please understand this.

Extractions: Preludes, op. 28; Prelude in C minor, op.45; Prelude in A flat major, op.post.; Barcarolle in F sharp minor, op. 60; Scherzo no 2 in B flat minor, op.31; Polonaise no.6 in A flat major, op.53. Martha Argerich, piano (DG 415 836 - 2) This is probably the only CD of Martha Argerich's Chopin semi-cycle which achieves a "library" recommendation in my book. Other recordings in the studio from DG have included a handful of mazurkas, Piano Sonatas 2 & 3, The Piano Concerti with Claudio Abbado, some Waltzes, some Polonaises, the Andante Spianato and Grand Polonaise, and a couple of the Nocturnes. Argerich is prone to fiery death - defying pyrotechnical displays, which do not always bring out adequately the poetry of Chopin's music. Compared to the late, great Artur Rubinstein, many of her readings sound heartless, like a student who has just finished some finger exercises, sight - reading some challenging music (though very accurately). This CD of the Preludes, coupled with an awesome reading of the second scherzo (and others) is an exception. The seventh prelude is very charming indeed, the "Raindrop" (15th) is touching, beautifully presented with very Chopinesque pianism. The fiery preludes are given Argerich treatment. The sixteenth and twenty-fourth blaze away with so many cannons and volcanic energy, with truly thrilling nail-biting finishes. The second scherzo's middle section is a whirlwind of terrifying virtuosity, and the dismount into the lightning coda will blow you away.
