Piano competition begins at 9 a.m. at City Auditorium. Instrumental competition begins at 9:10 a.m. at First Presbyterian. Vocal competition begins at 12:15 p.m. at First Christian. Semifinalists are expected to be announced this afternoon, with the second competition scheduled Saturday in the City Auditorium. The semifinal schedule will be published in Saturday's Standard-Times. Two finalists from each competition will be named following the semifinal round, with those chosen slated to compete in the final round that night. All performances are free to the public, except the final round, which is scheduled for 8 p.m. in City Auditorium.
