One person told him that he could never play Chopin well since he was an Asian-American. Even at the competitions he got into, things did not always go well. One time during a competition in Leeds, England, he was interrupted three times while performing. This was after he barely made it to the competition after the shuttle got a flat tire. His lessons were always creative, and at the very least fun. Every day we learned some new part of grammar, some vocabulary, and then played games to practice those, or practiced our speaking skills by writing and performing our own skits. My piano professor for my first two years at Baylor, Dr. John Cozza, took me to many concerts at the Bass Hall in Ft. Worth, and the Myerson in Dallas. I have seen performances that I would never have thought I would be able to see Evgeny Kissin, Murray Perahia, Radu Lupu, three Van Cliburn Competition winners(all pianists), Joshua Bell(violinist), and Thomas Hampson(baritone).
