Extractions: NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE, Ont. (CP) - The seventh edition of the Niagara International Chamber Music Festival will feature 35 concerts in this picturesque community from July 25 to Aug. 17. Venues include churches, historical sites and area vineyards. In the opening night gala, 12-year-old Bora Kim of Toronto will display her talent on two instruments, playing a Haydn violin concerto and a Mozart rondo for piano. Among other festival highlights, pianist Anton Kuerti will perform compositions by Mendelssohn, Brahms and Schubert; the Gould String Quartet, accompanied by Peter Tiefenbach on piano and Michael Sweeney on bassoon, will perform works by Glenn Gould and Schubert; and Czech-Canadian pianist Antonin Kubalek, fresh from an appearance at the Prague Spring Festival, will offer a program of Czech and more familiar masterpieces.
