This year, after three consecutive May Dining Guides devoted to analyzing trends and evaluating new restaurants, we've returned to what we know diners really want the 25 best restaurants in town. Twenty-five places so good they summon the Lipizzaners, the mezzo-sopranos, the best champagne and the plumpest chicken. It's a tall order because good restaurants have bad nights and bad restaurants get lucky. For a restaurant to make a top-numbers list, it doesn't need to be invincible, just damn close. At UW-Green Bay, Simon has performed with Percussion Ensemble, the Hand Drumming Ensemble, the New Music Ensemble, and Wind Ensemble. Extractions: Crosscut Records CCD 11080 The German record company, Crosscut Records, has a reputation for delivering high quality recordings of new & current Blues acts. Sharrie Williams fits that bill with room to spare, she is a belter, a red-hot mamma & rockin', funky gospel-tinged Blues is her absolute forte. Ably assisted by her band, The Wise Guys & some additional guest musicians, Sharrie issues forth with feeling & total authority. She has a songwriting credit beside 13 of the 14 tracks on "Hard Drivin' Woman", displaying a depth of talent rarely encountered in many artists. At times the musical flavour veers decidedly towards hard-rock & away from more Bluesy & soulful fare but her rendition of the old standard, "I'd Rather Go Blind", is one of the best I have ever heard. Sharrie Williams' career is still in it's ascent as she gains increasing recognition everywhere she performs. My advice is get to a Sharrie Williams gig any way you can I'll see you there but meanwhile, get hold of a copy of "Hard Drivin' Woman" & check out Sharrie Williams for yourself.

Last month, our National School Network evaluator, Hank Becker, sent to most of the NSN school sites (250 schools in all) several survey booklets, including a Teacher Sampling Form. The completion of these booklets will enable you and other NSN participants to have a clearer perspective on your accomplishments to dateenabling you to compare yourself to others that are, as the survey says, "Schools and Teachers on the Internet's Leading Edge." Based on comparison with the Baseline survey which many of you completed in 1995, the surveys will demonstrate how far leading edge schools have come in the last two years, and the role that funding, administrative support, training, and other factors play in making a difference for school Internet success. This research will have substantial impact on policy-makers and legislators. But only if everyone called upon to participate does their part. Please, if you have been sent or given a survey booklet, fill it out and send it back (to the UCLA Survey Research Center, as shown on the booklet itself). Teachers sampled through the Teacher Sampling Form will be sent their booklets in April. If you know of others who have been sent a booklet, please encourage them to complete it, and offer to help if there are questions they do not understand. Thanks very much for your help.
