Extractions: (Castle Music) New Faces . Their elder siblings however, know him as the songwriting / producing machine behind the ginormous curates egg of 60s pop hits that make up this handsomely retro-packaged, definitive compilation. On the classic side, Tone gets Petula Clark belting away like a kicks-starved majorette on US No 1 smash Downtown and squeezes the fantastic, soppy Euro-ballad Joanna out of Scott Walker at a time when hed much rather have been intoning the rum Belgian chansons of Jacques Brel. The Foundations doubtless energised many a Kray-filled Soho lounge with the horny Hammersmith soul of Call Me, and Merseybeat gets to show off one of its hardier progeny, The Searchers' "Sugar and Spice". Amid these gems there's a glut of mostly pleasing ballads, cod-soul and nifty string-laden harmony pop from the likes of Mark Wynter, Mrs Hatch herself, Jackie Trent and even latter-day Coronation Street matriarch Sue Nichols. Yet more Hatch nepotism comes in the form of his sister, doe-eyed poppet Ninette, with flower-power paean "I Just Wonder Why". Utterly naïve and anachronistic it may be, but it's no less prepossessing and pretty for that. Honourable mention too for "Two Of Each", "Mally Page", "The Sands of Time" and at least a dozen other obscure Pye Records acts that a certain Mr Austin Powers would be more than happy to crank up on the Dansette in his Mayfair pad.

Therefore, I have created an Adobe PDF file of the full size drawings that you can download and print on your own printer. The links for the downloads will be at the end of this article. The part numbers for the Mercury capsule called out in the article are identical for both the Revell and Monogram issues of the kit (including the recent SSP reissue)) Series rekindled my interest. After purchasing a handful, they sat on the shelf while other projects occupied my time. Then in 1989 I saw where Glencoe was going to re-release Hawk's old Jupiter C kit in 1/48 scale. I'd seen the original item at kit collectors' shows, but its price had kept me from purchasing, especially if I was going to stick it together with glue. Anyway, Glencoe's notice gave me an idea: why not combine the two kits to create a replica of Alan Shepard's historic flight vehicle (MR-3). I did some basic research and didn't come up with much. Most of the coffee-table books on manned spaceflight concentrated on Apollo and the Space Shuttle with Project Mercury beeing only briefly discussed and the Mercury hardware barely touched, so I dug deeper. Each Mercury spacecraft was configured to the mission assigned, so no two were alike. Externally, two basic types of operational spacecraft were built by McDonnell Aircraft, the major differences were in the type of windows and side hatch. Spacecraft number 7 (Shepard's) was the only example of the early type to be manned. Figure 1 shows the basic dimensions of the Mercury spacecraft and escape tower.

He is currently finishing his first year in the Concordia Electroacoustic program, and this piece was his final project for the year. It is an electroacoustic recreation of the beautiful and spacious jazz tune, Nefertiti, originally written by Wayne Shorter in 1967. With his Minidisc recorder, Audiomulch, Sound Forge and Acid Pro 3 he can be found working on new and exciting projects such as this eight-minute piece, entitled rather appropriately, "Nefertiti Undercover". Extractions: The day started out with a brief introduction by Jenny Toomey, the executive director of the Future of Music Coalition. After saying hello and thanking those of us who showed up early, she talked a bit about FOMC's relationship to New Orleans, its pledge of support to the city and her appreciation of how the music community has reached out to those affected by the disaster. Then it was on to the panels. Panel 01: "Guiding Aritst Through Tremendous Change" From left to right: Michael Hausman (Michael Hausman Artist Management), Clyde Valentin (Director, Hip Hop Theater Festival), Shoshana Zisk (Management, George Clinton Enterprises), Charles Bissel (The Wrens), Bertis Downs (Advisor, R.E.M.), Peter Jenner (Manager, Sincere Management/Secretar General, IMMF), Eric Brace (Moderator) Moderator Eric Brace guided the panelists through discussions about the changes that are â and sometimes aren't â happening in the music business. All were in agreement that the current business model, based on selling physical product, is outdated, and all acknowledge and embrace the ways new technologies allow artists to take more ownership in their careers and market themselves to consumers. The most visionary and eloquent thoughts were expressed by Peter Jenner , the current manager of Billy Bragg and former manager of T Rex, The Clash and Pink Floyd, among others. "No one knows which (business model) is going to be the important one,â he said when the topic came to the troubles with the current business model. âNo one knows how we're going to get paid for them. We know the Internet and mobile phones are out there, people use them, people are going to get music from them, and there's going to be some money knocking around there for them."

I think I'm calling it quits for the weekend unless I decide to fight the Accordion festival traffic in Cotati and hit Bobby Young and Motordude Zydeco at tradewinds and Spancky's. It is weird going into "clubs"during the day and they both are early afternoon shows. OT, even with an earlier start, getting up at 3am, and I thought I had made good time until.....on the way home, I'm driving along the twisting, narrow, two-lane mountain road that I drive everyday, behind a P/U truck and there appears a cloud of amber dust in front of him. He slows and pulls to the side and right in front of me is a truck on the other side wrapped in barbed wire on the side of the road facing me and it was tore up! It bounced off a big old Cypress tree that was on our side. The smoke and dust was still there and out of the wreckage appeared a lady screaming for help a bloodied mess.

Composition Glenn Buhr received a BMus degree from the University of Manitoba, a MMus degreefrom the Dr. hatch s compositions are in a large number of genres, http://info.wlu.ca/~wwwmusic/compos.html
Extractions: Composition students have access to two Electro-Acoustic Music Studios (Studio A and B) which use a micro-computer-controlled digital audio and MIDI-based facility to create "tape" compositions. A variety of synthesis techniques are available including FM , Analog, and Sampling. Signal processing (outboard' equipment) and both digital and analog recording equipment complete the facility. A third station is used for music notation. Studio A has been assembled to facilitate MIDI based composition. It uses a computer interface (O'S Studio 3), which allows MIDI control information to flow freely between software programs and external sound modules, synthesizers and effects unit s. Currently, Opcode StudioVision Pro and Max are the primary software programs resident on the computer, controlling synthesizers including the Alesis QS-6 and Roland DX7-II. Once completed, projects can be realized via the Spirit Auto 24-8-2 mixer to various playback media (cassette, DAT). Studio B is specifically designed for digital audio recording, manipulation and storage. It uses a computer interface (Audiomedia III card), which allows the importation of music/sound from any standard media (cassette tape, DAT, CD). Once residen t on the computer hard disk, the sound can be edited and manipulated using the Protools editing/DSP program, as well as external processing modules. Once completed, projects can be exported, via digital or analog paths, to various playback media (CD-R, c assette, DAT).
