In opposite to Bohr he rejected the idea of an electron that circulates around an atomic nucleus following certain given orbits, and, instead, described electrons as standing waves in different geometric forms. Furthermore, Schroedinger managed to show the mathematic equivalence of his statement and the Heisenberg matrix mechanics (1927).
