    Extractions: The ILO was established through the Treaty of Versailles (along with the League of Nations) in 1919. Thus, for over eight decades, it has been the major global exponent of social justice and freedom from discrimination. Enshrined in the ILO's Declaration of Philadelphia is its premise that "There can be no lasting peace without social justice". It thus sets the tone for the UN principle that "all Human Beings, irrespective of race, creed or sex, have the right to pursue both their material well-being and their spiritual development in conditions of freedom and dignity, of economic security and equal opportunity". During the biennium 2000-01, IPEC has the second largest programme in Pakistan of all member States of the ILO, with a total commitment of US$ 700,000 for the country programme. In addition, donors have committed more than US$ six million for three years in a sector specific projects. IPEC in Pakistan aims to target about 26,000 working children and their younger siblings during this biennium. Until now, more than 40 per cent of the target group has been achieved. It is worth mentioning that a South-Asian sub-regional Project on Prevention of Family Indebtedness with Micro finance Schemes and related Services is recently initiated in agriculture sector in Sindh. The objective of this Project is to prevent families from getting bonded through micro finance and related services such as health, education and capacity building for income generation. Besides, the Project would also play its role in rehabilitating the already freed bonded labourers through similar services. The Project would be expanded to the brick kilns sector of Punjab in future.
