The Moscow State Institute for International Relations (MGIMO) became Russian National Champion in the International Law Students Association's Philip C. Jessup Moot Court Competition, an annual contest organised and sponsored in Russia by global law firm and the American Bar Association Central European and Eurasian Law Initiative (CEELI) MGIMO took first prize after defeating the team from Yaroslav the Wise, Novgorod State University (Novgorod) in the final round of the competition on February 14, 2004. Both teams will represent Russia in the international competition in Washington, D.C., scheduled for March 28 to April 3, 2004.

The institute conducts summer law study programs in the following countries. The programs introduce American law students to foreign law and legal institutions, and provide intensive study during four- to five-week sessions. Classes abroad sensitize students to the cultural differences that influence effective international dealing and expose students to the perspectives of foreign experts.
