Inicio Buscador Recomendar sitio

Later that year he is awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics for the invention of automatic valves for lighthouses. Dalen is unable to personally to collect his diploma from the Swedish Royal Academy of Science. The first Aga is patented by Dalen. The cooker's birth follows months of exhausting experimentation in the kitchen at the inventor's home. The first Aga is sold within the Irish Free State. The cooker is installed by John Masser, owner of A.H. Masser of Dublin. Good Food on the Aga , written by Ambrose Heath and illustrated by Edward Bawden.

Dalén was blinded in a gas explosion accident earlier the same year, and it was speculated in whether the award which was not uncontroversial among phycisists may have been influenced by this. Despite his blindness, Dalén remained in control of AGA until 1937. Dalén earned his Master's degree and a Doctorate at the Chalmers University of Technology. It is the undisputed queen of British kitchens that has conquered many a heart across the Atlantic as well. An invention of a Nobel-winning physicist, the Aga is unique because it cooks with radiant heat, locking in the natural juices and tastes of the meals in its cavernous belly. In every home with an Aga cooker, the kitchen invariably becomes the heart of the house as the family is drawn to the toasty warmth it radiates. The Aga range cooker was the brainchild of Sweden's Nils Gustaf Dalen, who won the Nobel Prize in 1912 for automating lighthouses. When an industrial accident blinded Dalen, the genius spent a lot of time at home and became convinced that his wife's conventional cooker was inefficient. His decade-long efforts at improving it gave birth to the Aga, whose first model was patented in 1922. Named after Dalen's firm Akteibolaget Gas Accumulator, the Aga relocated to the UK in 1928.

Extractions: There have been many theories of relativity throughout history, from the astronomical speculations of Heraclides to the geometry of Euclid to the classical theory of space, time, and dynamics developed by Galileo, Newton The question is complicated by the fact that relativity is traditionally split into two separate theories, the special and general theories, corresponding to the two phases of Einstein's historical development, and the interplay between the ideas of Einstein and those of his predecessors and contemporaries are different in the two cases. The "special theory" of 1905 can, with some justification, be regarded as an interpretation of Lorentz's theory of electrodynamics. Indeed, Wilhelm Wein proposed that the Nobel prize of 1912 be awarded jointly to Lorentz and Einstein, saying The principle of relativity has eliminated the difficulties which existed in electrodynamics and has made it possible to predict for a moving system all electrodynamic phenomena which are known for a system at rest... From a purely logical point of view the relativity principle must be considered as one of the most significant accomplishments ever achieved in theoretical physics... While Lorentz must be considered as the first to have found the mathematical content of relativity, Einstein succeeded in reducing it to a simple principle. One should therefore assess the merits of both investigators as being comparable.
