SIAM Conference On Geometric Design And Computing . The SIAM Activity Group on Geometric Design is concerned with theapplications in Engineering, Medicine, Architecture, and other Areas. http://www.siam.org/meetings/gd05/
Extractions: Applications in Engineering, Medicine, Architecture, and other Areas The SIAM Activity Group on Geometric Design is concerned with the mathematical and computational issues that arise in generating and processing geometric information for various engineering applications, such as mechanical design, process planning, and manufacturing. The scope of the group's activities encompasses a wide spectrum of scientific, technological, and other skills, ranging from rigorous mathematics to the subjective aesthetics of shape. The purpose of this conference is to bring together researchers from academia, industry, and government to discuss the mathematical and computational problems associated with the application of geometry to current problems of design, manufacturing, and the representation and analysis of physical phenomena.
Courses - SIGGRAPH 2003 Projectors Advanced Geometric Issues in applications Monday, Tutorial, 1030 am 1215 pm Room 33 AC Level Intermediate http://www.siggraph.org/s2003/conference/courses/raskar.html
Extractions: The latest computer vision and graphics techniques for projector-based displays. In addition to design, rendering, and calibration algorithms in conventional projector-based systems, this course provides a practical guide to relevant topics in image warping, projective geometry, transfer functions for curved screens, camera-assisted methods, and projector-based augmented reality. General knowledge of basic computer graphics theory and practice, including perspective projection and rendering. Also helpful: familiarity with video projection and basic concepts in computer vision. The primary intended audiences are designers and programmers who use or build applications for innovative projector-based systems. Calibration and projective geometry: pin-hole projector model, homography, curved transfer, global consistency, estimating pose, radial distortion, depth extraction. Image warping: rendering techniques, exploiting graphics hardware, intensity blending functions. Parametric and non-parametric approaches. Integration of camera, tracker, mirrors. Applications: casually aligned displays, spatially augmented reality, shadow removal.
