Originally equipped with four Skyflash radar-guided medium range missiles and four AIM-9L Sidewinder infra-red homing air-to-air missiles, the F3 can now be fitted with Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAMs) and Advanced Short-Range Air-to-Air Missiles (ASRAAMs). The aircraft also has an internally-mounted 27mm Mauser cannon on the right hand side of the forward fuselage, along with chaff dispensers and flares for protection from anti-aircraft missiles.
