ASTER is a cooperative effort between NASA, Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and Japan's Earth Remote Sensing Data Analysis Center (ERSDAC) . ASTER is being used to obtain detailed maps of land surface temperature, reflectance and elevation.
