The Russian-born American conductor Yakov Kreizberg is chief conductor and artistic advisor of the Netherlands Philharmonic and the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, and principal guest conductor of the Vienna Symphony. At the end of the 2000-01 season he relinquished the post of general music director of the Komische Oper Berlin. He was also principal conductor and artistic adviser of the Bournemouth Symphony from 1995 to 2000. Mr. Kreizberg has led the Royal Concertgebouw, Leipzig Gewandhaus, Minnesota, and Zurich's Tonhalle orchestras; the Berlin, New York, Munich, Los Angeles, London, Oslo, Czech, and St. Petersburg philharmonics; the Chicago, Boston, San Francisco, London, Atlanta, BBC, City of Birmingham, Toronto, Pittsburgh, Montreal, Dallas, and Tokyo's NHK symphonies; the Staatskapelle Dresden; and the Orchestre de Paris, among others. He made his Philadelphia Orchestra debut in 1999 and led the Orchestra's 2003 Tour of the Americas. Mr. Kreizberg has conducted performances with the Glyndebourne Festival Opera, Canadian Opera, the Lyric Opera of Chicago, the English National Opera, and Netherlands Opera. This season he will tour Germany with the Netherlands Philharmonic and conduct the Vienna Symphony on a tour of Japan. | |
