Violinist
Stefan Milenkovich Stefan Milenkovich began to play the violin at the age of three under the guidance of his father (who remained his teacher for the following 17 years). He quickly showed a rare talent that led him to his first appearance with an orchestra at the age of five, and his first prize at the Jaroslav Kozian International Violin Competition at the age of seven. The following year, at the age of eight, he made his debut in Belgrade as well as his first album recording. This opened the doors to the West, taking him the following year on a big tour in Italy, followed in the years to come by performances throughout Russia, Germany, France, Belgium, Holland, Finland, Switzerland, Israel, Great Britain, Spain, Turkey, Croatia, Poland, Bulgaria, Sri Lanka, Mexico, China and Australia.
In 1993 and 1994 Stefan participated in the most renowned violin competitions. In those two years of competitions where he was usually the youngest competitor, he won first prize at the

2005 is a very significant year for Michael Duff and Berg Bows, as it represents the sum of 20 years of innovation, experience, and fine bow making. The following is a letter from Mr. Duff reflecting on some of the history as well as current issues involving the Berg Bow.
This year is the 20th. Anniversary of the forming of Berg Bows. Therefore it is appropriate and certainly interesting to reflect on those twenty years. To see how the significantly new standard of bow making fared, measured against the established traditional crafting of performance quality bows from pernambuco wood. For the reader's information Berg Bows pioneered making high quality performance bows, originally violin and cello, followed

"Milenkovich is clearly on the threshold of a major career." — The Washington Post
UCLA Live presents 24-year-old Young Concert Artists violinist Stefan Milenkovich in a much-anticipated recital at 4 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 18, at UCLA's Schoenberg Hall. Pianist Adam Neiman will accompany Milenkovich. Milenkovich will perform Saint-Saens' Sonata in D minor No. 1, Op. 75; Prokofiev's Sonata No. 2, Op. 94a; Bloch's Nigun; Paganini's Moto Perpetuo and I Palpiti, Op. 13; and Tchaikovsky's Meditation. Winner of the 1997 Young Concert Artists International Auditions, Yugoslavian-born Milenkovich started playing violin at the age of three, with his first appearance as soloist with orchestra at the age of five. By the time he was eight, he was making more than 100 appearances a year, and at 17, became the youngest violinist ever to win the Silver Medal at the 1994 Indianapolis International Violin Competition. He has played for such noted figures as Ronald Reagan, Mikhail Gorbachev and Pope John Paul II. Known for practicing eight hours a day, Milenkovich was the youngest student (at age 18) to graduate with a music degree from the University of Belgrade. He participated in The Juilliard School's Professional Studies program under the tutelage of Dorothy DeLay and is currently a teaching fellow at Juilliard's DeLay Institute. He performs on a Stradivarius, on extended loan through the Stradivari Society.
