During the last two seasons she performed the concerti of Tchaikovsky, Mendelssohn, Sibelius, and Bartók (No. 2), the double concerti of both Bach and Mendelssohn and the Four Seasons of Vivaldi. Lee also champions the rarely-performed concertos of French Romantic Composers such as Theodore Dubois and Benjamin Godard, whose works she performed with the critically-acclaimed Jupiter Symphony under the direction of the late Jens Nygaard. In October 2004 she performed a violin concerto of Jean-Marie LeClair in France with the Orchestre de Chambre Français, with whom she toured the United States in March 2005. A laureate in numerous international competitions, Lee captured first prizes in the Washington and D’Angelo International Competitions; bronze medals in the Tchaikovsky Competition and the Queen Elisabeth Competition and third prize in the Montreal International Competition, where she also won the Audience Favorite and the Best Performance of the Commissioned Work prizes.

AT THE OBERLIN CONSERVATORY OF MUSIC
A UGUST Robert K. Dodson, Dean of the Oberlin Conservatory of Music at Oberlin College, announces the appointment to Oberlin's faculty of Kyung Sun Lee as assistant professor of violin, effective July 1, 2001. Lee has appeared as a featured soloist with the Munich Radio Orchestra (under the baton of Yehudi Menuhin), the Montreal Symphony, the Moscow National Orchestra, the Belgian National Orchestra, the Seoul Philharmonic, the Taipei City Symphony, the New Zealand Symphony, and the Jupiter Symphony, among many others. where she studied with Sylvia Rosenberg She also attended the Julliard School Professional Studies Program, studying with Dorothy DeLay and Robert Mann. The Oberlin Conservatory of Music at Oberlin College, founded in 1865, is the nation's oldest continuously operating conservatory, and the only major music school in the country linked with a preeminent college of arts and sciences. The Conservatory offers majors in performance, composition, music education, music theory, electronic and computer music, jazz studies, music history, and a double major in piano performance and vocal accompanying. There are more than 400 public concerts on campus each yearmost of them freeincluding performances by student ensembles, faculty members, and performances and master classes by guest artists.

Kyung Sun Lee, Violin In great demand as a soloist, Kyung Sun Lee also performs frequently in duo with husband Brian Suits, with whom she is one of the newest members of the Community Concerts roster. For years a highly sought after teacher in Seoul, Lee became professor of violin at the Oberlin Conservatory in the fall of 2001. In summers she teaches at several chamber music festivals in both the United States and Korea. Lee is a former member of the acclaimed KumHo/Asiana String Quartet of Korea, with whom she performed worldwide. Lee has recorded two CDs with pianist/husband Brian Suits, "Salut d'Amour" with pianist HaeSun Paik on EMI, several recordings with the KumHo/Asiana String Quartet, "Spanish Heart," with German pianist Peter Schindler and guitarist Sung-Ho Chang on Good International, and a CD in trio with Suits and soprano Jennifer Aylmer. Her latest album, with cellist Tilmann Wick, was released in January of 2004 on Audite Records . Kyung Sun Lee studied at Seoul National University, Peabody Conservatory and The Juilliard School. Her teachers have included Nam Yun Kim, Sylvia Rosenberg, Robert Mann, Dorothy Delay and Hyo Kang.

She received her musical training from the Seoul Art High School, SNU from which she graduated with top honors. Continuing her training abroad, she graduated with honor from the Akademie für Music und darstellende Kunst in Austria and studied under Leon Fleisher at the Peabody Conservatory of Music, Johns Hopkins University as a Fulbright fellow. Brian Suits is the collaborative pianist. Admission to the concert is $20. A Classic Evening at Saint Vincent, with a sitdown dinner at 6 p.m. sharp and a standout concert at 8 p.m. sharp, is available at $30 per person. Ms. Lee will perform Stravinsky's Suite Italienne; Ravel's Sonata; Saint-Saëns'Romance in C Major, Op. 48; and Brahms' Sonata No. 3 in D Minor, Op. 108. Korean violinist Kyung Sun Lee has been a laureate in numerous international violin competitions including the 1994 Tchaikovsky Competition and the 1993 Queen Elizabeth Competition. This time, they came to hear pianist Anton Nel, one of the festival's most popular and reliably excellent artists, in a sparkling, mercurial traversal of some Beethoven. Nel chose the witty "Five Variations on 'Rule Britannia,' " and the Rondo in G Major (Op. 51, No. 2), both of them comparative rarities on today's concert stage. Considerably more familiar was the "Les Adieux" Sonata (Op. 81a), given an assured performance full of drama and contrast. Now playing
