Yuppie ethos hadn't yet devoured everything, but you could feel its maw, the heat of its breath. For example, I noticed the kids were dressing in golf clothes whenever I'd get out of the hothouse village and go to cape cod. Which I at first took to be this superb joke pulled off by people much higher on the irony spiral than I was. Only it wasn't a joke at all. I talked to them. And you could feel it leaching into some of the parties that we'd crash in the city. I was reading Celine at the time and he was describing being penniless in nyc and having a relationship with this rich american, Lola, and saying things like "Poverty doesn't draw unless it's presented properly, swathed in imagination." I think he was trying to convince her he'd sired children all over and keep her on the hook for a while with the prospect of adopting one of his illegitimate, abandoned (non-existent) children. Sweet treats to beat the heat By Sadie Abuhoff
Contributing Writer The Freez, located where Seventh Street meets Route 15, is a student favorite and has a variety of treats at affordable prices. In addition to the classic offerings of a roadside ice cream stand, the Freez’s signature dish is called a “Freez.” It consists of ice cream with toppings blended throughout rather than just sprinkled or poured on top. Similar creations are available at commercial ice cream parlors around the nation, but the Freez is unique in its vast assortment of ice cream flavors and toppings. This variety allows for endless experimentation. “The only bad thing about the Freez is that it is closed for six months of the year. the Freez is one of the best, most unique places in Lewisburg. They have amazing ice cream, huge portions and so many options,” Cody Keffer ’05 said.
