Proof of the Twin Primes Conjecture Provides Proof of Goldbach's Conjecture Theorem There are infinitely many twin primes. Proof of the Twin Primes Conjecture Using Proofs of Goldbach's Conjecture or Using the Prime Number Theorem The twin primes conjecture (TPC) suggests that there is an infinite number of primes a and b with a difference , i.e., a - b = 2. Goldbach's conjecture (GC) suggests that every even number greater than is the sum s of two prime numbers a and b , i.e., a + b = s where s is even GC is proved by the author herein below and elsewhere For prime numbers a,b,c a - b = (a + c) - (b + c) even integer and thus, generally, a - b = 2k k = integer and since a + b is an even number a + b = 2n Now, using (2) and (3) results in a = n + k and b = n - k which say that for every single value of k primes a and b are separated by an interval and occur as numbers n + k and n - k . Suppose that n ,n ,n , . . . ,n

My website is smaller than it once was. Please visit again, however, since new materials will continue to appear occasionally. * My book Mathematical Constants is now available for online purchase from Cambridge University Press (in the United Kingdom and in North America ). It is far more encompassing and detailed than my website ever was. It is also lovingly edited and beautifully produced - many thanks to Cambridge! - please support us in our publishing venture. Thank you. (If you wish, see several very kind reviews . You can also search the book via Amazon and Google by keyword.) Here are errata and addenda to the book (last updated 8/11/2005), as well sample essays from the book about integer compositions optimal stopping and Reuleaux triangles . Here also are recent supplementary materials, organized by topic: Number Theory and Combinatorics Inequalities and Approximation Real and Complex Analysis Probability and Stochastic Processes

Book review by: Bill Chapman
age: 36 Review submitted on 04/28/2001 at 15:01:04 list all 2 reviews for this book Story Rating 9.8 out of a possible 10.0 Bill Chapman writes the following about Uncle Petros and Goldbach's Conjecture is a concise story of a young man's description of his uncle's obsession with a mathematical problem. Uncle Petros was a gifted mathematician who, despite the warnings of his colleagues, pursued mathematical greatness by attempting to prove one of the remaining "great challenges" of mathematics. The story is a must for those with at least a passing interest in mathematics and math history, but it is definitely not limited to that audience. There is something for everyone here: Math for math's sake; family relationships; the quest to conquer insurmountable challenges against the odds; and more.

Dudley Goldbach Conjecture Goldbach's original conjecture (sometimes called the "ternary" Goldbach conjecture), written in a June 7, 1742 letter to Euler , states "at least it seems that every number that is greater than 2 is the sum of three primes " (Goldbach 1742; Dickson 2005, p. 421). Note that here Goldbach considered the number 1 to be a prime, a convention that is no longer followed. As re-expressed by Euler , an equivalent form of this conjecture (called the "strong" or "binary" Goldbach conjecture) asserts that all positive even integers can be expressed as the sum of two primes . Two primes such that for a positive integer are sometimes called a Goldbach partition (Oliveira e Silva). According to Hardy (1999, p. 19), "It is comparatively easy to make clever guesses; indeed there are theorems, like 'Goldbach's Theorem,' which have never been proved and which any fool could have guessed." Faber and Faber offered a

Goldbach's Conjecture: Every even n
Goldbach wrote a letter to Euler in 1742 suggesting that . Euler replied that this is equivalent to this is now know as Goldbach's conjecture. Schnizel showed that Goldbach's conjecture is equivalent to distinct primes
It has been proven that every even integer is the sum of at most six primes [ ] (Goldbach's conjecture suggests two) and in 1966 Chen proved every sufficiently large even integers is the sum of a prime plus a number with no more than two prime factors (a P ). In 1993 Sinisalo verified Goldbach's conjecture for all integers less than 4 ]. More recently Jean-Marc Deshouillers, Yannick Saouter and Herman te Riele have verified this up to 10 with the help, of a Cray C90 and various workstations. In July 1998, Joerg Richstein completed a verification to 4
