What's New? Call for Participants - 99 Seconds Session at Upcoming HFES 2005 Annual Meeting A session called: 99 Seconds (see description below) will be held at the upcoming HFES 2005 Annual Meeting in Orlando, FL. The session is currently scheduled for Sept 28th (Wed) from 10.30 a.m. – 12.00 noon. This was a session that debuted at last year’s conference and was a pretty good success, so we decided to do it again this year.
  • Participants to this session do not need to be existing authors of papers/posters being presented at the conference, and so anyone can participate in my session as long as it is relevant to the field of Human Factors and they can wrap up their talk in literally 99 seconds. Participants do not need to use slides or any other media, but if they do, they will be allowed a maximum 2 slides that they should have on a thumb-drive or send to me the week before the session.

What is NEM? Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES) has designated October of every year to be National Ergonomics Month (NEM) . The purpose of NEM is to focus on promoting human factors and ergonomics to corporate executives, students, and the general public by providing information and services to the community. Is Human Factors included in NEM? Yes. More completely NEM could have been called National Human Factors and Ergonomics Month, but for convenience the shorter name is being used. The shorter name is more effective since many people already believe Ergonomics and Human Factors are synonymous. Who is NEM for?
