About the Collection
This is a collection of bibliographies of scientific literature in computer science from various sources, covering most aspects of computer science. The bibliographies are updated weekly from their original locations such that you'll always find the most recent versions here. The collection currently contains more than 2 millions of references (mostly to journal articles, conference papers and technical reports), clustered in about 1500 bibliographies, and consists of more than 2.3 GBytes (530MB gzipped) of BibTeX entries. More than 600 000 references contain crossreferences to citing or cited publications. More than 1 million of references contain URLs to an online version of the paper. Abstracts are available for more than 800 000 entries. There are more than 2000 links to other sites carrying bibliographic information. Welcome to the Department of Computer Science
The Department undertakes research and teaching of the highest international standards in Computer Science and related areas.
Following a research assessment rating of 5* in both 1996 and 2001, the Department of Computer Science was awarded the highest possible 6* grade by the Higher Education Funding Council in 2003. The department attracts more industrial funding for academic research in computing than any other department in the UK. York was the Sunday Times University of the Year in 2003 and teaching in the Department of Computer Science was recently judged to be excellent by HEFCE. We currently have some 400 undergraduates, 100 taught postgraduates and 100 full-time research students. Professional bodies The British Computer Society and the Institution of Electrical Engineers accredit our courses to the maximum extent possible. The Department's continued expansion and new facilities are accommodated in a purpose built, 4200 square metre building, opened in September 1997, which occupies the highest point on campus. Departmental teaching and research is supported by over a dozen assorted central servers, and 500 PCs ( running Windows and Linux), all connected by a state-of-the-art switched network infrastructure.
