Informatica is overal!
Probeer maar eens te tellen hoeveel microprocessoren je in huis hebt: je MP3 speler, je mobieltje maar vergeet ook de wasmachine niet. Stel je eens voor dat je een week lang niet kunt MSNen of SMSen.
Informatietechnologie is dus echt overal! De opleidingen aan de VU bestrijken een groot deel van alles wat met informatica te maken heeft: computersystemen, maar ook kunstmatige intelligentie bedrijfsinformatica bioinformatica informatiekunde , en bedrijfswiskunde

International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos (IJBC)

in Applied Sciences and Engineering "The International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos is the most handsomely produced, with its large pages and type, and it is the place to publish colour figures. The covers are breathtaking and the articles are rich with brilliant colour pictures (free to authors). When lack of shelf space forces the clearing of my office some years from now, I shall hesitate to throw out any of these issues. Each begins with valuable tutorials and reviews, and is followed by papers and letters. It is evident that much effort has been expended to bring high-quality readable papers from a variety of scientific fields into this quarterly publication. Not just in terms of its low cost, I consider this journal the best buy." - Nature The International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos is widely regarded as the leading journal in the exciting field of chaos and nonlinear science. Represented by an international editorial board comprising eighty top researchers from a wide variety of disciplines, it is setting the standard in scientific and production quality. The journal has been highly acclaimed by the scientific community around the world, and has featured many important papers by leading researchers from various fields.

I am a graduate student pursuing my Ph.D. in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at the University of Illinois search ). My thesis work and research interests are in operations research, mathematical programming and optimization. My thesis advisor is Prof. Nick Sahinidis our group webpage Starting August 2001, I am planning to join the Krannert School of Management at the Purdue University as an Assistant Professor. My resume html ps pdf ... My e-optimization page Research Interests publications Classical nonlinear programming algorithms have primarily concerned themselves with local optimization ensuring globality only under the restrictive assumptions of convexity. My research is focussed on finding ways to relax this requirement without sacrificing too much in terms of efficiency. It may sound ironical, but the most powerful tool in our hands turns out to be convex analysis. Using convexification techniques, we develop new algorithmic strategies for zeroing in on the global optima of continuous, integer and mixed integer nonlinear programming problems. The techniques developed as a result of this research are incorporated in our global optimization package

When it comes to explosion hazards, there's no question risk and damage is involved. The real question is "how much" - and to what extent. Why not eliminate the guesswork using ACE's expertise in providing analytical and computational models and services? Whether it's in the fight against terrorism, accidental explosions - or any number of scenarios - ACE can analyze your specific situation so you're able to fully understand risk implications and assess potential damage.
