Molecular mechanisms were the focus of a recent publication in J. Immunology by Green et. al., that revealed how white cells are signaled to adhere to blood vessels during inflammation. Fluorescence detection of membrane capping of L-selectin and PSGL-1 (yellow fluorescence) by E-selectin during white cell rolling and sticking in shear flow on inflamed endothelium (static on top, and shear on bottom).
