The World Aeronautics Association was founded to answer several needs in the aviation community. In the summer of 1994, the founder and his team were in the process of planning to set a world record and raise money for a local charity organization by selling souvenirs of the flight. The founder's area of expertise is in rocket powered aircraft in which he set three records in 1990 and was also included in the Ten Most Memorable Record Flights of 1990. According to the record books, he is the only person to fly a rocket aircraft in the last 30 years. He contacted a national record keeping organizations to set a new record. Unfortunately, the rules had changed such that: "the power plant or engine must be fully controllable throughout the flight" and it was explained to him in the same letter that "this is the rule that would prevent you from attempting more records". If this rule was applied retroactively, it would eliminate Chuck Yeager from breaking the sound barrier in the X-1 since he landed with the engine off. This would also eliminate any X-15 flights. However, it was the next paragraph that was also rather limiting:

The EASN aims to bring the European universities with aeronautics activities into an integrated network, operating in parallel with industry and the national research establishments. The central element is an open, Internet based network that will enable communication between groups and will provide access to a database. More details here
Universities and institutes of higher education play an important role in the formation, education and provision of engineers, technologists and scientists. At the same time, they possess a considerable capacity for performing research, both fundamental and applied, to support aeronautics and aeronautics related activity. As such, universities form an important part of the European aeronautics supply chain. More about this item here
The challenge is to develop a network that will link the aeronautics community in European universities. More details here

School History
In 1903, Wilbur and Orville Wright made the first flight in a powered aircraft. Although the flight was a short one, the seeds of an industry were planted. For over fifty years, Teterboro School of Aeronautics has been training men and women to enter this exciting field as Aviation Maintenance Technicians. Teterboro School of Aeronautics was founded in 1947. From the very beginning the school has helped fill the needs of the rapidly growing Aviation Industry. The original facilities and course were approved for a maximum enrollment of 150 students. Two years later, the course was updated to include two separate courses leading to either the Powerplant or the Airframe rating. During the 1950's, with the introduction of the "Jet Age", the facilities were enlarged and the curriculum was expanded to include jet powered aircraft. In July of 1960 the maximum approved enrollment was increased to 300 students. This was later increased to 450 students. In August of 1971, Teterboro School of Aeronautics decided to expand its role in supplying the Aviation Industry with much needed professional aviation technicians. To meet this need the school moved to a new modern 44,000 square foot facility with suitable shops, classrooms and offices. In June of 1972, a new curriculum was introduced to meet new Federal Aviation Administration requirements. Since then, new equipment has been added, and curriculum changes have been made on a continuous basis to insure students will continue to receive the training needed to be successful as professional Aviation Maintenance Techinicians.
