Excellence in sport requires talent, but also support to fulfil potential. The coach has a critical role in developing the physical and technical attributes of the athlete. To be a good coach, excellent personal skills, teaching ability and an analytical eye must supplement this knowledge. Sports Coaching is a dynamic and modern subject that will bring together these very different aspects. This innovative course will seek to develop coaching excellence through the understanding of several key areas including: coaching processes, teaching styles, management issues and scientific analysis. When combined, the coach will be able to apply both technical and teaching skills to the development of sports performance, using a multi-disciplinary approach. Throughout the course, emphasis is placed on developing a range of professional and developmental skills, and the attainment of vocational qualifications pertinent to this area of study.
