Resource Guide to Philosophy of Sport
Introduction
The philosophy of sport is concerned with the conceptual analysis and interrogation of key ideas and issues of sports and related practices. At its most general level, it is concerned with articulating the nature and purposes of sport. The philosophy of sport not only gathers insights from the various fields of philosophy as they open up our appreciation of sports practices and institutions, but also generates substantive and comprehensive views of sport itself. The philosophy of sport is never fixed: its methods demand an inherently self-critical conception of intellectual activity; one that challenges its own preconceptions and guiding principles continuously both as to the nature and purposes of philosophy and of sports.

Body of Knowledge
Being a form of philosophical discourse, the philosophy of sport embodies the formal and contextual character of the parent discipline: philosophy. Unlike the biomedical sciences of sport, philosophers (just like social scientists and humanities scholars) generate research that is overtly reflective of its non-theory neutrality. Intellectual progress can be made in philosophy and the philosophy of sport without presupposing an idea of linear development - or at least largely shared view of cumulative, commensurable, knowledge - that is assumed within the natural or biomedical sciences of sport.

About this website (Sept. 2005) : This website is 2 years old, has 300 pages, and gets about 20,000 page visits a day . Its main function is to show that the most simple solution for describing physical reality, the Wave Structure of Matter (WSM) in Space, does actually work (the problems have been caused by the 'Particle' conception of matter in 'Space-Time', as Einstein realised). Now we realise that most people are not into physics, philosophy or metaphysics. However, most people do care about the world that we live in, and the future world that we are creating for our children. And it is pretty obvious that truth and reality (those much abused terms) are the two most important subjects for Humanity to understand if we are to build a better world. Our aim is to get these various WSM subject pages in the top ten in Google so that this knowledge of the Wave Structure of Matter (WSM) is at least known and considered. To achieve this we really need your help to add links to this website . If we can convince just 1% of people (100 people a day) to donate 5 minutes of their time to help then we will easily succeed in achieving this over the next year or so (as most of our pages currently rank in the top 50 in Google for relevant search terms).
Finally, our

Philosophy of Sport
Online Resources Texts: Philosophy of Sport Used Books: Philosophy of Sport Know of a Resource? ... Life Through the Earholes of Our Youth by Ken Burger (Editor), David Lissy (Photographer). Beyond the scores: Ken Burger's first book is about real life! In between all the games and stuff, every now and then Ken has written an article about the experiences he had with sports when he was a kid. A great deal of it concerns the struggles we all go through and where sports fits into our lives as young people... From the Author: The focus for this book emerged as I pored over a decade's worth of sports columns-more than 200 a year-and discovered that the ones I liked most reflected personal thoughts and feelings. A lot of it has to do with my youth and my kids- the personal stuff I've written about over the years. It's about real life. Some of the columns are about my own kids. Some deal with alcoholism and other things I've personally gone through. I've had people tell me that the only reason they pick up the sports page is to read a column that will draw them into something beyond the scores. I look at writing as a journey through all this stuff.
