Albion won both games by scores of 8-0 and 9-1. Photograph by Gregg Twietmeyer, Albion College sports information assistant. Albion finished with a 23-13 overall record and an 8-6 mark in MIAA play. The Britons tied Hope College for fourth place in the final regular season standings, but the Flying Dutch received the last spot in the league tournament based on a victory over Alma, the league champion. The Britons posted impressive victories, sweeping doubleheaders from NCAA Division II institutions Hillsdale and Northwood. The team was rewarded for its winning season by placing three scholar-athletes on the all-MIAA squad. Junior shortstop Sarah Caskey achieved first team recognition for the fourth time in her career (she also earned a pair of all-league first team awards in basketball). Caskey finished sixth in the MIAA in batting, posting a .395 average with 17 hits in 43 at-bats in league play. She also ranked among the top five in the MIAA in on-base percentage (.477) and slugging percentage (.558). Senior outfielder Megan Russell and junior pitcher Michaela Adams were All-MIAA second team selections. Russell, who was also named to the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-America third team, tied for second in the MIAA in runs batted in with nine. In 14 league contests, Russell posted a .267 batting average with three doubles and a triple. Adams earned a 4-3 record in seven league starts. She tossed a no-hitter in the first game of the Britons’ final MIAA doubleheader at Hope. In 43-2/3 innings of work, Adams allowed 15 runs, 34 hits and 15 walks. She was third in the league in strikeouts with 35.

References Introduction
While the statistics mentioned above are stark, and clearly indicate that alcohol misuse continues to be a problem on college campuses, it is important to recognize that there is a tremendous amount of misinformation about college drinking floating unchallenged through the media and from alcohol researchers themselves. It is also critical to recognize that lots and lots of people profit from the pervasive use of alcohol at colleges people in the tourism industry (e.g., spring break trips), beverage manufacturers, advertisers, bar owners, grocery store chains, media outlets, and the list goes on. All of these factors make it very difficult to get to the truth, which is that alcohol use on college campuses is certainly a problem, but hardly the epidemic it is made out to be.
The purpose of this section of the site is to provide fact-based information about current issues related to college drinking. This section is still under development and new information will be added regularly.
