Tennis is a game played between two players ( singles ) or between two teams of two players ( doubles ). Players use a stringed racquet to strike a hollow rubber ball covered with felt (most of the time yellow, but can be any color or even two-tone) over a net into the opponent's court Originating in Europe in the late 19th century as "lawn tennis", with its roots going back to the ancient game of real tennis , tennis spread first throughout the English-speaking world, particularly among the upper classes. Tennis is now once again an Olympic sport and is played at all levels of society, by all ages, and in many countries around the world. Except for the adoption of the tie-breaker in the 1970s, its rules have remained remarkably unchanged since the 1890s. A recent addition to tennis has been the adoption of "instant replay" technology coupled with a point challenge system which allows a player to challenge the official call of a point. Along with its millions of players, millions of people world-wide follow tennis as a spectator sport, especially the four

The concept of the game is very basic in that the player controls one person faced against an opponent CPU player. This game uses the same scoring system as "real-life" tennis . The game also features a doubles (2-player) option. The opponent CPU player can be set at 5 difficulties. The player has only two choices on how to hit the ball: a normal stroke (button A), or a lob (button B). The direction of the ball depends on the timing of the stroke, e.g. if the (right-handed) player hits a forehand early, the ball goes wide to the right, and if he hits it late, then the ball hooks to the left. If the player can reach a lob from the opponent, he can smash it. At higher difficulties, it is almost impossible to win the point except with a smash.

    Ana Upsets Venus
Ana Ivanovic had never won a set against Venus Williams until Tuesday's Australian Open quarterfinal, when she won two in a row, 7-6(3), 6-4. Venus didn't look quite as out of sorts as her sister Serena had the day before, but she was clearly off her game, especially on her backhand, which is usually a major weapon. Ana made plenty of errors, too, but she came up with a ton of powerful forehands that were either quite deep or beautifully angled. Ana's prospects for reaching the final look better than those of her compatriot Jelena Jankovic . Ana faces a very capable Daniela Hantuchova, but Jelena will have to contend with Maria Sharapova , who is playing by far the best tennis of her life. Maria was simply spectacular defeating world #1 Justine Henin , who is rarely beaten when playing as well as she did in their quarterfinal. Maria and Justine produced one of the best women's matches ever played, with Maria pounding the ball all over the court and the exceptionally quick Justine both retrieving and delivering great pace of her own. permalink comments (0)

Here, Ray Brown and Jana vd Walt discuss on court habits that can make a significant difference in the outcome of your matches. On-court habits are learned behaviors that you must internalize and use without thinking. Any hesitation can lead to unforced errors or breakdowns discipline and an associated loss of confidence. These habits are related to the mental side of the game, but are different in that they are physical actions that can be practiced in the same manner that one practices strokes. Some of these girls are already household names and it's time for them to move to the next level if they can. For some of the younger ones, only the most ardent tour followers will be able to pronounce their names, yet these so-called freshman have already begun to make an impact. So, who will move forward and who will fade away, see what Matt and Joel have to say. 10 Questions for the Final 5 Days of the Australian Open The first nine days of the Australian Open was as wild and wooly as it gets, with Roger Federer nearly going down in highly entertaining marathons, and Serena Williams, Andy Roddick, Svetlana Kuznetsova and Anna Chakvetadze shown the early door. The final five days promises to bring more surprises and a whole lot more quality starting with Sharapova VS Henin.
