(December 2007) Tchoukball is an indoor team sport developed in the 1970s by Swiss biologist Dr. Hermann Brandt , who believed that "The objective of all physical activities is not to make champions, but make a contribution to building a harmonious society". His aim was to develop a team sport which did not involve the horrific injuries which he viewed as plaguing other sports. The sport is played on an indoor court measuring forty metres by twenty metres (130 feet x 65 feet). At each end there is a 'frame' (a device similar to a trampoline off which the ball bounces) which measures one square metre and a semi-circular 'D' measuring three metres (10 feet) out from the frame in all directions. Each team can score on both ends on the field, and comprises twelve players, of which nine may be on the court at any one time. In order to score a point, the ball must be thrown by an attacking player, hit the frame and bounce outside the 'D' without being caught by the defending team. Physical contact is prohibited, and defenders may not attempt to intercept the attacking team's passes. Players may take three steps with the ball, hold the ball for a maximum of three seconds, and teams may not pass the ball more than three times before shooting at the frame.

Why Play? Tactics Rules
Tchoukball
Tchoukball (pronounced "Chuke-ball") is a relatively new sport being invented by the Swiss biologist Dr. Hermann Brandt in the late 60's and introduced to the public in 1970. The rules of tchoukball are easy to learn and the game is a fun fast way to keep fit and enjoy being in a team. The aim of this website is to introduce new players to this ever expanding sport and to help them learn the basic rules and tactics. The following is a brief summary of the game which is given in more detail if you follow the links at the top. - Tchoukball is played with two 'rebound frames'. These framesmeasure 90 centimetres square and are situated at both ends of the court.
- A line runs 3 metres from the centre of the bottom of the frame around in a semi-circle. This area is called the 'D' or 'forbidden zone'.
- The court size varies greatly depending on the ages of the players; a full size international standard court is 40m by 20m in size.

Ma ben presto and² oltre l’idea originale. Parallelamente alla messa a punto del regolamento, durata diversi anni, scrisse infatti una carta etica che per i giocatori di tchoukball ha lo stesso valore delle regole del gioco. Il pensiero umanistico del dott. What is tchoukball?
Tchoukball is a non-contact sport which combines the pace and excitement of handball and volleyball to make it the fastest handball sport around. It's a relatively new sport that was invented around 30 years ago. Great Britain now has its own team and competes around the world in tournaments. Tchoukball - pronounced 'chook-ball' - got its name from the sound the ball makes when it hits the frame.
