WANDA XMAS CHALLENGE Wanda Christmas Challenge Sunday 23 rd December 2007 What a day, again a very funny and well organised day by Charlie Brown. The highlight of the day again were the flags which had the Old men rep Mick Brannock take on the current Australian Champion Tyrone Courtney in the final. The skill and expertise of Mick came through when it counted and Tyrone was pipped right on the flag. The other event which dominated the day was the tug-o-war. For the second year in a row the Women left the Middlemen on the ground. Typical poor display of Kurt Melville's middlemen, however the dominance of the Master's and team Captain Tait Brannock shone through on the day. 'After last years narrow loss the master's went into training early, I ear marked Scott R and Craig H for the tug-o-war and Tyrone Courtney for the flags, the Nipper parent's narrowly qualified for this years event and proved their worth. I hope to continue this years performance and look forward to training in the new Year. Congratulations must be given to the team Captain's especially Declan Reid's guitar playing on the balcony after.

How To Get Involved
At the Torquay SLSC there are activities and opportunities for people of all ages and the Club provides a perfect family activity centre.
Active members
Surf Lifesaving is a learned skill and members from the age of 13 onwards can start to gain qualifying awards that allow them to participate in this icon of Australian Culture. The Life Saving Start and Life Saving Bronze are the minimum awards required for patrolling the beach. Each December Torquay runs a one-week live in camp and its purpose is to qualify new members for these awards. This popular camp provides unique training and skill development, and is also a great opportunity to meet new friends who share the same community ideals. Other training courses are conducted throughout the year to broaden the rescue skills of Torquay SLSC members.
