Squash and stretch is a traditional animation technique that animators commonly use to give animations more realism and weight. In the real world, when a moving object comes into contact with another object, it deforms upon impact unless it is completely rigid. As you animate objects to show realistic impacts and collisions, one thing that is important to remember is that no matter how much an object squashes or stretches, it always maintains the same volume. The amount of squash and stretch depends on how much flexibility you give your object.

Another small-yield recipe. This soup tastes very close to beef stew and is remarkably thick even though it contains no cream or eggs.
Ingredients:
  • 1/4 cup margarine
  • 1 medium white onion
  • 3 or 4 cups cooked pumpkin or other squash
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried crushed red pepper (optional)
  • 1 1/2 cups soup stock
Method:
Chop the onion coarsely. Melt the margarine in a large saucepan. Stir the onion into the melted margarine, add the salt, pepper, and red pepper (optional), and cook until the onion is very brown but not burned, about 30 minutes, on low to medium heat. Stir frequently and keep covered. Add the cooked squash and stir in the vegetable stock. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer for at least 45 minutes, covered, on low to medium heat. If the soup seems too watery, simmer uncovered until it reduces. Serve hot, topped with cilantro or parsley (optional).
Notes:
This soup takes at least an hour and a half to prepare. The longer it simmers, the better its flavor.

It needs to be cooked before serving, and for a longer time than other summer squash. You should peel a chayote before cooking it, but don't take the seed outit's edible and tasty. Cooked chayotes make good low-fat substitutes for avocados. Substitutes: zucchini (stonger flavor, cooks more quickly) OR kohlrabi OR other summer squash OR carrots OR bell peppers (for stuffing)

PSF Calendar Home Introduction Friday, 27 April 2007 Pakistan Squash Federation Official Website Prior to 1949 British and Egyptian players, Amar Bey, Dear and Mehmud-ul-Karim being the most prominent among them, had dominated the tournament. 1948 saw the entry of M.A. Bari a Pathan from Nawa Killi, Peshawar, who was a squash marker at the C.C.I. Club, Bombay. Bari, on his first entry to the British Open, reached the finals, which he lost in a grueling five-set match to the then reigning champion, Mehmood-ul-Karim from Egypt. Karim had now won three consecutive British Opens, 1947 - 1949. After the tournament, the High Commissioner for Pakistan in London, Mr. Habib Rehmatullah, asked Bari if he could move back to his native Peshawar in order to play for Pakistan. Bari declined regretting his inability to comply with this request, suggesting instead that Pakistan approach his cousin Hashim Khan whom Bari had never been able to defeat in any official or unofficial tournament. The High Commissioner wrote to the Pakistan Government and thus was discovered Hashim Khan, already 35 years of age, living in oblivion in Peshawar. When contacted, Hashim expressed confidence in his ability to defeat Bari and it was agreed that Hashim should be given a chance to prove himself.

Introduction
The squash bug, Anasa tristis , is common throughout the United States. The squash bug will attack all members of the cucurbit family but are most common on pumpkins and squash. Feeding, via piercing/sucking mouthparts, occurs primarily on the plant foliage. However, late in the season, squash bugs may also feed on fruit. The associated damage symptoms include wilting of leaves and ultimately results in leaves that appear black or dried out.
Biology and Life cycle
The squash bug can be misidentified as a stinkbug. Both insects look similar and emit a distinct odor when crushed; however, the stinkbug is not a pest of cucurbits and is more commonly associated with tomatoes or various legumes such as soybeans and peas. Squash bug adults (see image, left) are 5/8 in. long and 1/3 as wide. They are usually gray to black with the edges of the abdomen having orange and brown stripes. Nymphs are 3/16 to 1/2 in. in length. Young nymphs have a red head and legs with a green abdomen, however as the nymphs age the red color will turn to black. Late instar nymphs will be greenish-gray in color with black appendages (see below, left). Eggs are 1/16 in. long and have a yellowish brown to brick red color. Eggs are laid individually in groups of about twelve on the underside of leaves (see image, left). Each cluster of eggs is usually laid in a characteristic V shape pattern following the leaf veins. Eggs are laid under the leaves from spring to midsummer and will take 1-2 weeks to hatch. The eggs will become darker as they get close to hatching.
