ATTENTION: ALL Class "A" Volunteers there is a *NEW* "Protective Behaviors" Training Policy in effect!!! All Class "A" volunteers MUST now complete a "Protective Behaviors" course, and an online version has just become available. The implementation of this training is required to further reduce the opportunity for sexual, physical and emotional abuse to our athletes. To access it, simply click on the link below: Protective Behaviors Training Course Once you have successfully completed the course, SOME will receive an email confirmation that you have completed the training. We would prefer that everyone use the online training, however, if you are not able to, you may obtain a CD version of the training, by calling Ian Frank at 879-0489.
NEW Volunteers:
from this date forward, any new volunteer who completes the Class "A" Volunteer Application, must also complete the Protective Behavior Training, as well, to be properly registered with SOME.
Thank you, in advance, for your cooperation with this new policy - as always, we ALL strive to make the program better and safer for the athletes we serve!

Special Olympics Great Britain (SOGB) is the major provider of sporting opportunities for people with a learning disability and provides equality of opportunity for all our athletes regardless of ability or degree of disability. Since our formation in Great Britain in 1978 as part of the worldwide movement, which was founded in the USA in 1968 by Eunice Kennedy Shriver, a wonderfully enthusiastic team of experts and volunteers has worked mightily to bring sports training, competition and sheer pleasure to thousands of people with a learning disability in Great Britain. We hope that you will not only learn about our organisation from these pages, but more importantly will want to know how to get involved or attend an event - where you will find that enthusiasm and joy are infectious.
