No responses yet Dec Blowouts Published by mrssocci under family We headed to Connecticut on Friday night to spend the weekend before Christmas with my mother-in-law and the kids. We heard a thump, that of course I ignored, and when we were going from the Hutch to 287 over to 95, the front passenger tire blew out.  I was able to get to the side of the road with no problem.  Charley jacked up the car and started to remove the blown out tire.  The jack broke as he was about to get the tire off, the car went crashing to the ground and we ended up having to call 911.  The really surprising part was when we first broke down a guy stopped and put out some flares for us.  After we had called 911 a state trouper, who set out more flares, stopped to make sure we were ok, and then the tow truck finally arrived.  He was able to jack the car back up and change the tire to the donut.  We drove on the donut 50 miles per hour all the way to CT.  Once we got there we had a lovely time.  We had gotten our tires at the Sears so I took the car back there to get a new tire.  To my surprise we had a type of insurance on the tire so received a $53 credit toward the new tire.  Yeah Sears! While I was at the mall I went to a Christmas store and found an artifical tree for 50% off!  Score!

Ferrara REMNANT COLUMNIST, New Jersey Cardinal Bertone attempts an answer to Antonio Socci’s explosive book accusing the Vatican of covering up the Third Secret of Fatima, but the Cardinal only succeeds in embarrassing himself and confirming the suspicions of the faithful. In the midst of the motu proprio mania there has been an enormously important development in the controversy surrounding the Third Secret of Fatima. Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, the Vatican Secretary of State, has published a small book, The Last Visionary of Fatima , which attacks the Italian intellectual Antonio Socci for having concluded in his own book, The Fourth Secret of Fatima , that the Vatican is concealing a text of the Third Secret. Socci’s conclusion brings to a rolling boil the long-simmering conviction among the faithful that, as Mother Angelica put it on her national television show in 2001, “we didn’t get the whole thing.” Of course, Bertone had to do something, for the publication of Socci’s book meant that this issue would no longer be a contest between the Vatican apparatus and those who can be dismissed haughtily with the demagogic labels “Fatimist” and “extreme traditionalist.” Socci is a highly respected mainstream Catholic commentator who has conducted press conferences for both Bertone and the former Cardinal Ratzinger. Bertone had no choice but to attempt an answer.

From 1994 to 2000, Socci was associate executive director of the multi-agency U.S. Global Change Research Program’s coordination office, where he was active in planning, coordinating and shaping the government's nearly $2 billion per year investment in scientific research on impacts of global- and regional-scale environmental changes, largely climate-related. For six years he coordinated and hosted regular Capitol Hill briefings on climate-related global and regional environmental changes. Socci earlier had been special assistant to the director of the Division of Environmental Biology at the National Science Foundation, and from 1991 to 1993 he was senior science advisor for the US Senate Commerce Committee's Subcommittee on Science, Technology and Space.
