By carrying a source of breathing gas (usually compressed air ), the scuba diver is able to stay underwater longer than with the simple breath-holding techniques used in snorkeling and free-diving , and is not hindered by air lines to a remote air source. The scuba diver typically swims underwater by using fins attached to the feet. However, some divers also move around with the assistance of a DPV ( diver propulsion vehicle ), commonly called a "scooter", or by using surface-tethered devices called sleds pulled by a boat. From St. Vincent's volcanic cliffs dripping with emerald green vegetation fringed by black sand to Petit St. Vincent's perfect white sand and aquamarine waters , divers find unspoiled reefs and an incredible diversity of marine life. Bequia, Canouan, Mustique, St. Vincent, and the area around Mayreau, Tobago Cays, Palm and Union Islands are serviced by local dive operators. The diving in St. Vincent is the best in the Caribbean if you love underwater macro photography, seahorses, frogfish and exotic creatures. You won't find the quality or quantity of unique creatures in Dominica, Grenada, Saba, Bonaire, Cozumel, Grand Cayman, Little Cayman, Barbados or any other Caribbean Island. • Destinations Diving the wreck of the Zenobia Larnaca Cyprus This article is a travel topic Scuba diving is a sport in which you swim underwater for extended periods using special equipment. The word Scuba is actually an acronym for self-contained underwater breathing apparatus. Scuba diving is an excellent way to see some very beautiful sites: coral diving sites with their colourful sea life are the most famous but other scuba diving attractions include shipwrecks and caverns. Scuba diving can also be a very relaxing sport and in many places it's very beginner friendly. Many dive sites are accessible (under the care of an instructor) after a short briefing and training dive. You can learn to dive far more quickly than you can learn snow sports, for example. It's also suitable for people with a number of physical disabilities. As long as you can use the breathing equipment and are able to successfully propel yourself underwater you may be able to dive.

For whatever reason, doing absolutely nothing on the other side of the word is always more enjoyable than doing absolutely nothing at home.
But of course, I exaggerate when I say that my girlfriend and I did absolutely nothing on the French Polynesian island of Moorea during our recent vacation. It was actually quite the opposite. We kept our days very busy eating, sleeping, and swimming. There was hardly any time to do anything else.
Dining in Moorea
Food in the South Pacific always seems to be a challengeas we first discovered in the Cook Islands two years ago. The biggest complaint is that everything is always so horrifically expensive. We spent $100 for pizza and beer one afternoon, which was pretty much the average for every meal we ate on Moorea. Ouch!
What's wonderful about the restaurant scene on Moorea, however, is that most restaurants will pick guests up from their resort for freea very welcome surprise that helped to keep the already expensive cost of meals slightly lower by not having to pay for a taxi.
Ironically, our favorite restaurant that we frequented the most often was also the closest.

  • E-mail Share A Harford County woman died Sunday while scuba diving with her husband and two children in Key Largo, Fla., according to her family and Florida authorities.
Nancy A. Kreiter, a College of Notre Dame of Maryland professor who specialized in the study of spiders that live near ponds, had long yearned to explore underwater ecosystems, and the trip to Florida was the culmination of that wish, said her daughter, Kara Clissold.
"She grew up on the Mississippi River and she wanted to learn how to scuba dive," said Clissold. "This is something she had always really wanted to do."
The family, including Kreiter's husband, David Clissold, traveled to Florida on Christmas Day and completed their scuba certification at a local diving school a few days later, said Kara Clissold.

17. An Overview Of Scuba Diving Vacations
scuba diving is increasingly popular as the focus of a vacation. Finding a scuba vacation is the first step. and both
Scuba Diving Vacations Scuba diving is one of the most fun and most adventurous sports in the world. From the Great Barrier Reef to the Caribbean, scuba diving is one of the greats of extreme sports. For a long time, scuba diving was an extra side trip on a vacation or something that your resort offered, but now scuba diving can be the focus of a vacation. Hundreds of agencies and companies around the world offer vacation specifically for those who want to scuba. Finding a Trip Online Although scuba diving vacations are becoming more common, they can still be difficult to find unless you know where to look. One of the best ways to find a scuba diving vacation or destination is to search online. There are a variety of quality sites that allow you to search by destination, age, or type of trip. Many websites have online forums where you can search the comments of other scuba diving lovers who have traveled around the world. Their suggestions are your best hope for finding a great scuba diving vacation, and other divers may have advanced expertise that can help you perfect and enjoy your favorite hobby. Scuba Camps Although you can choose a destination specifically for the great diving in the area, you can also spend your vacation at a diving camp. Throughout the world, there are a number of diving camps that will train new divers and offer unique experiences and additional training for more experienced divers. Camps are available for people of all ages. Children especially love attending scuba camp during the summers where they can meet new friends through new, fun, and exciting experiences!
