http://www.olympiumrhythmics.com/homepage/ORGC_homepage.html
Welcome to one of the most successful gymnastics clubs in Canada, and one of the finest gymnastic facilities in all of Toronto! Established in 1986, Olympium RGC is proud of the successes of our rhythmic gymnastic program. Under the guidance of club founder and head coach Danuta Smiechowski, we offer a wide range of classes to suit the interests of gymnasts between the ages of 4 and 18 in our recreational and competitive programs. Rhythmic gymnastics was originated in Europe at the beginning of the 20th century. The sport was developed to combine movements with music and unite the artistry of dance with athletic grace. Rhythmic gymnastics was recognized as an official competitive sport in 1962 by the International Gymnastic Federation, and made its Olympic debut at the 1984 Los Angeles Games, where Canada's Lori Fung won the very first Olympic Gold Medal in the sport. Rhythmic gymnasts perform routines using a variety of rhythmic apparatus such as the ball, rope, hoop, clubs and ribbons, which are choreographed into colourful and expressive performances. Over the years, the club has developed a long list of champions who took their love of the sport to the competitive level. We are the home of Erika-Leigh Stirton, 1998 Commonwealth Games champion and five-time national champion. Our club history consistently boasts national team members at the novice, junior and senior levels, as well as provincial champions. In addition, our national junior group champions earned the title of the Junior Pan American Games!
