During a timeout, the senior guard yelled to his teammates: "This ain't Seton Hall!" "Our guys went absolutely nuts," coach Mike Rice said. A few minutes later, those guys went bonkers, too. The Colonials finished a stunning, 57-51 upset of the Eagles of the mighty Atlantic Coast Conference.

Rallying on Facebook
By Gabrielle Russon Don’t forget “George W. Bush is My Homeboy.” Then there’s that one, “Ralph Nader is My Hero.” And, of course, “Sen. Barack Obama is the Man.” These Facebook groups may sound quirky as they bash and pay tribute to politicians, but presidential candidates certainly cater to audiences that use the social networking Web site. Take Thursday’s MTV/MySpace presidential forum, for instance, or CNN’s YouTube debate held in July. Now, candidates also have their own Facebook accounts with thousands of “friends,” Web sites and blogs to attract the technology-savvy generation. “There’s so many new technologies available,” said Mark Lopez, research director for CIRCLE, or the Center for Information and Research on Civic Learning and Engagement. “That wasn’t the case in 2004.”

by Audrey Hingley Nancy Donley remembers sitting helplessly beside the hospital bed of her 6-year-old son Alex as he fought for his life after eating hamburger contaminated with E. coli O157:H7. "He endured explosive bouts of vomiting. His screams were followed by silence; he had tremors, delusions, and no longer knew who I was. I sat with him as monitors recorded organ failure after organ failure. A massive seizure left him on a respirator. "I tell you Alex's story to remind you that behind every statistic is a life," Donley told a hushed crowd at "Changing Strategies, Changing Behavior: What Food Safety Communicators Need To Know," a food safety education conference attracting over 550 people to Georgetown University's Conference Center in Washington, D.C., last June 12 and 13. "Alex matteredI will not allow his death to be chalked up as an unfortunate statistic. To me, the 'E' in E. coli O157:H7 stands for evil." Rallying for Tim Blair
Sphere: Related Content Those of you who have read this blog even part time over the last five years know that the man who inspired me to start this blog is Tim Blair. Hell, there are times that I have no clue what he's talking about when dealing with Aussie domestic issues but he's hilarious and his style of writing is one I've tried to aspire to (unsuccessfully but I'm still trying).
Tim revealed today that he has been diagnosed with cancer and that he faces surgery and an extended hospital stay:
Feeling poorly for some time. Saw a doctor a few weeks ago, who sent me to a specialist, who booked me into hospital for tests.
Luckier than I ever knew. Not just from your immediate family Tim, you have your world-wide family who care for you deeply.
The thing about reading a writers blog as opposed to their essays in a paper is that you get a feeling for the persons personality by reading them on a blog. Tim always struck me as a guy I'd like to have several Victoria Bitter's with.

Rallying against urban sprawl
Monday, January 14, 2008 Comments STORY TOOLS More Editorials Share and Enjoy Wal-Mart's attempt to build a third Supercenter in Cordova has evolved into a classic NIMBY (Not In My Back Yard) battle. It's a fight that residents, who don't want the mega-store as a neighbor, appear to be winning for now. Wal-Mart wants to build the store at the busy intersection of Houston Levee and Macon roads in eastern Cordova. Government planners have recommended against construction, determining, among other things, that the Supercenter would make an already bad traffic situation at the narrow intersection a lot worse. Houston Levee and Macon both are two-lane roads near the site. The matter is now in the hands of the Land Use Control Board, which at the request of Wal-Mart delayed a vote on the proposal last week. In some ways, the proposal could be a defining battle between developers and those concerned about urban sprawl. Last month, a LUCB member called the matter "the biggest decision" the board will make for Cordova, which has seen explosive retail and residential growth over the last two decades.

Rally Rallying is a sport which generally involves driving on normal, public roads. There are a number of different sports gathered together under this banner, which are generally subdivided into the categories of Road Rally and Stage or Pro Rally . The former is a sport conducted on open, public roads at legal speeds and in conformance with all traffic laws. The latter generally involves closing roads in order to allow a high speed motor sports event.

Finding Rallies
There are a couple of ways to find a local rally program. You might want to visit the SCCA Web Site and see if an SCCA Region near you is on the net. Rally Central has an excellent "rally finder" service, and the Rally page for the Detroit Region of the SCCA has a lot of Rally links. Finally, check out the Other Links page to see if you can find nearby clubs. North American Motorsports Pages Krusty Motorsports webmaster@na-motorsports.com

Rallying to the Agile Cause
When it comes to the quasi-religious subject of development methods, I try to avoid sectarian violence. I like to think of programming languages, for example, in the same way that I think of wrenches: the all-purpose variety tend to do a wide range of jobs with only mediocre success but when languages evolve under different pressures, they develop complementary strengths that we all later profit from recombining into more advanced hybrid tools At least as contentious is the topic of development method families, which I try to avoid calling "methodologies"because "methodology" is, of course, the study of methods. "Paradigm" had potential as a better term, but it's long since been wordjacked and left as a vandalized wreck by the side of the road. I favor environments and repositories that serve as method-neutral settings for capturing and representing developers' goals and products, with Telelogic's System Architect being a long-standing favorite.

  • Be realistic about what you can and cannot do. Use your training time to improve your shots and push your boundaries a little, and get a clear picture about what your limitations are. Then stay within those limitations when playing matches
  • Don't make guesses about where the ball is going - hold the bat in a neutral position and watch your opponent closely. Don't commit to hitting a forehand or backhand until you see in what direction your opponent has hit the ball. By watching your opponent closely, you will train your anticipation to work faster, and you will move more quickly to the ball.
  • When you hit the ball, take note of where you have hit it, and move to where you are in the middle of the possible angles your opponent can hit.
