Kiteboarding is the most fun and exhilarating new sport that can be enjoyed by anyone in reasonably good health. If the sport is approached with knowledgable training, judgement and suitable gear it is safer than many other sports. Kiteboarding can be done in flat waters similar to wakeboarding and water skiing or in waves like surfing with the ability to jump and fly. Some pros achieve heights of 60 feet and 100 yards in distance. Gear is light, compact and easy to store or travel with. Wind is free. Kitesurfing is a mixture of paragliding, wakeboarding, surfing and windsurfing, so it appeals to a really large target group. All you need is a board that is just two metres long and weighs between 3 and 5 kilos, a kite that folds up to rucksack size, and a control bar and kite lines. Graham Goodwin started running kitesurf-instruction courses as early as 1999 and has really made a name for itself in the kitesurfing world. We employ special kitesurfing instructors at a number of destinations who guarantee you a safe start in this new sport and the feeling that you’re mastering it right from the word ‘go’.

WHAT IS KITESURFING
Kitesurfing is the natural evolution of extreme wind-powered watersports. Combining traits of windsurf and wakeboard, the powerful air-foils and lightweight boards give the kiteboarder higher performance capabilities than ever before. In its short but exciting history kitesurfing has brought together the most exciting components of other extreme sports. The simplicity of the kite-board concept allows every rider the ability to create their own ride styles that reflect their creative imagination and personal expression. With every new move the definitions are changed and the sport continues to expand in possibility. Nobody knows what kiteboarding will look like in the future. But already at the present time kiteboarding has expanded into snow-kiteboarding and has taken new directions into foil-boarding and land-boarding.
"The kitesurfer, flies forty feet in the air above huge bone crunching waves in Hawaii's famous surf. He approaches the wave at blistering speed and launches himself from the crest of the oncoming wave. He leaps high into the air where he hangs effortlessly suspended from his wing and dances as gracefully as a bird, soaring and looping, he defies gravity until he softly descends, and challenges the next wave. Returning to shore he rides the wave with the agility of a surfer.
This aerial ballet is the manifestation of the new water sport of Kitesurfing. Kitesurfing is the synergistic offspring of windsurfing, wake boarding and paragliding. Kitesurfers control a wing of lightweight fabric, which pulls them across the water or above it. The sport is fast becoming the center of attention on the world water sports stage as pre-conceived limitations are regularly being shattered."

Kite surfing is a new, fun and rapidly evolving sport. The concept is simple, take a large traction kite and tow yourself along on a fast moving twin tip or directional surfboard. Much practice is however needed to make this concept work. Most of the Los Angeles area activity is at Belmont Shores, although kite boarders are active at many other Socal beaches. Kitesurfing-Resource.com Kite Surfing Guide Equipment Tuning Kite Surfing Safety Welcome to Kitesurfing-Resource.com ! This is a resource to help you get in touch with the latest in extreme sports, kitesurfing or kiting. Kite Surfing is a growing family of sports. Below you can read a little kitesurfing history: George Pocick took a basic kite design in the 1800's to the new level by increasing it's size and used it to power carts on land and ships on the water. The designs are now designed the same way they were back then. With the wind generating enough lift the kite would get off of the ground and was powerfull enough to sustain it for a period of time. Once the kite is in the air it's able to make it's own wind, proportionately faster creating a higher speed for the vehicle. This kind of kites where able to pull man-made vehicles on the ground, ice, snow and water. In the begining all kites where deployed from the land and not from the water, where kitefurfing takes place. Wipika, Kiteski, fOne, Concept Air, C-Quad and Naish Kites came to a water launch and relaunch kites. Their kites could be launched even after falling in the water. Laird Hamilton and Manu made a demonstration of the extreme sport opportunities in the late 1990's on the Hawaiian coast of Maui. The demonstration was made for radical surfers and wake boarders. Kitesurfing popularity has skyrocketed since then and it's one of the fastest growing sports.

Windsurfing has gone through a turbulent development since it's invention by Hoyle Schweitzer and Jim Drake back in the seventies. Jim Drake had experimented already in the early stages of
... windsurfing with a wing, more shaped like a hangglider. A little later I had the pleasure of testing a wing developed by the innovative sail designer Andre Lefebvre. Time has gone by and the wing became a kite which finally turned out to be an appropriate alternative to accelerate a surfboard using the windpower. Since kitesurfing really started taking off about two years ago, the still relatively small kitesurfing community learned quickly that special circumstances are needed to make kitesurfing a safe and enjoyable experience. Barbados isn't only blessed with it's unique windsurfing conditions, it also has the most ideal kitesurfing beach possible. I would probably not mean to exaggerate to say that this might be one of the most ideal kitesurfing beaches in the world. Just a couple of minutes away from Inchcape a gorgeous, tropical, mile long beach with slightly onshore winds has all the requirements for the ideal kitesurfing spot: It's lonely, it's a beautiful white sand beach, hardly any person around. The wind blows slightly onshore, all the safety you want as a kitsesurfing beginner. Many days or parts of days there is ideal windforce for kitesurfing.
