Example Judo: File upload limits were discussed and a simple solution was figured out… Ryan: what are we trying to avoid with a limit? won’t a gigantic file just time out anyway? Jason: thats’ the problem. “Why didn’t my file transfer work?” “What happened to the file I uploaded” “Why didn’t the upload finish?” Ryan: less software idea..we could just say there’s a limit. and then if people try something bigger and it works, then good for them Jason: I like that best. done. via

Our sport has something to offer everyone.
It is good for men and women, boys and girls. Judo offers physical fitness, self-defense, competition, and many opportunities for self-improvement.
Is Judo a good activity for kids? Yes! The disciplines and philosophies associated with Judo can have outstanding benefits for children. Those who participate in the sport develop better discipline, self-esteem and respect for others. These skills show improvement in grades, anger management and relationships with their family and friends.

    Very Soft
I was just looking through the martial-arts press. Chelsea Karate Club have just brought over another so called superstar from abroad.
But does this sound like someone who is in love with martial arts to you? It’s typical Chelsea Karate…
"I think it's very important for me to win titles and I have the chance here to win them.”
"The most important thing is the European Finals, which I was looking to win with my old club but we didn't have the chance."
Felini added: "I think we have a good team, a good trainer and a chance to win it.”
"I had some interesting offers, but the most important thing was that I talked to the coach, I talked to the people here and they were very interested.”
"We have many chances to win titles here and that's what I want."
Sounds soft and selfish to me.
Marvellous technology Why would you do that? I haven't got hygiene I'm a mug?

    Judo is back on campus!
RPI Judo has gotten a fresh start here on campus! Welcome to Sensei Noriyasu Kudo. Kudo Sensei is a 7th degree black belt (out of 10), originally born in Japan. Kudo Sensei was the first Judo instructor here at RPI and has returned to teach again! We practice Monday and Thursday from 8-10pm upstairs in the Mueller Center. We had a great first practice for the spring semester, lots of new people (and more girls)! Please feel free to join us, even if you're a beginner!
Some Notes from Jeff, our President:
    About Gi's (Uniforms)
You will need a gi to practice Judo. They historically have cost $50 for everything you need. If you have a judogi already you can, of course, wear that one. Until you get your gi, please wear clothes without rivets or zippers (long pants preferred). Your clothes will get pulled on so don't wear anything you wouldn't want to have stretch. Jewelry is also a hazard when rolling around on the mats. We will be putting in a bulk order for gis within the next few weeks. Etiquette
Since Kudo Sensei is a more traditional Japanese judoka, he is more attached to formalities than other instructors from the states. It would be considered fine to call him "Sensei Kudo" (like Prof. Smith) or "Kudo Sensei" (ordered like in traditional Japanese, preferred) or just "Sensei". Kudo Sensei will expect us to have the mats set up and be most of the way done with, if not done with, our warm-up when he arrives for the 8pm class. If everyone could get there by 7:40pm for now to set up the mats it would help a lot. We should try to start a warm-up before 8pm at the latest.

    Judo
Judo is a sport demanding physical skills and mental discipline. It originated in Japan as a derivative of martial arts used by the samurai and feudal warrior class. By gripping the judo uniform or judogi, individuals use the forces of balance, power and movement to attempt to subdue each other. Because several techniques (e.g., sacrificial throws, arm-locks) are not allowed in Special Olympics practice and competition, judo is a safe sport for eligible athletes. In addition, in order to offer this sport, a Special Olympics Program coach must have current National Governing Body (NGB) certification. The mat is carefully watched by referees during the judo competition at the 2005 Special Olympics Great Britain Summer Games. [Photo courtesy Special Olympics Great Britain] Roy Court, Special Olympics Technical Advisor for judo, has been organizing judo competitions for people with intellectual disabilities for more than 25 years and notes that many parents have told him about the dramatic change in behavior in their children once they began Special Olympics judo training. A hallmark of the sport is learning to channel aggression in a controlled and disciplined manner. As in all Special Olympics sports, athletes are grouped in competition divisions according to ability level, weight class, age and gender.
