Now I'm someone who campaigned tirelessly for a total ban on fox hunting to be introduced by Parliament, but Gem does make an interesting case for the re-introduction of fox hunting.
Yes, Gem is a Tory (as we have established), but she is also an animal lover - so why does she want to see foxes ripped limb from limb?
Well in recent years she has had 3 pet rabbits killed by foxes. (You would not believe the efforts the family go to to try and protect their rabbit, but somehow still the foxes get in and take the rabbit from it's hutch.)
The most recent killing was a couple of weeks ago. It felt like a family member had died - it sounds extreme, but when you love animals and form a bond with a beloved family pet it is extremely upset when they are taken from you.
So now Gem is on the war path. She is so determined to address the problem of foxes locally she is considering setting up the

Going Inside:
Transformation of Fox Hunting in Mississippi
by Wiley Charles Prewitt, Jr.
Game and hounds are the invention of gods, of Apollo and Artemis. They bestowed it on Chevron and honored him therewith for his righteousness. And he, receiving it, rejoiced in the gift, and used it. Xenophon, On Hunting. For many people, fox hunting conjures up images of red clad gentry riding to hounds, yet most Mississippi fox hunting was part of an informal rural tradition in which local hunters gathered at a good geographical vantage point to simply listen to their hounds run a fox. In south Mississippi a group of fox hunters cling to their avocation despite reversals in wildlife populations, altered interpretations of property rights and changing rural lifeways. This article traces traditional fox hunting in Mississippi from its origin as a communal rural past-time pursued in the open countryside and describes how its devotees adapted it to large fenced areas known as fox pens. Interviews with the participants allow the hunters themselves to describe the forces that influenced fox hunting and their reactions to them. The interviews offer insight into the changing natural and cultural environment of the state and suggest reasons for the resiliency of fox hunting as a rural activity. Fox Hunting With Hounds

Mounted fox hunting with hounds is the sport of people who enjoy a frantic horseback gallop across country. The object is to chase a fox tracked and pursued by a pack of hounds. The riders gain more enjoyment on a fox hunt than on an ordinary foxless gallop because the fox may lead them anywhere to escape the hounds - along valleys, across streams, through hedges and over fences. If the hounds catch the fox, they, the huntsman or his assistants, kill him. People hunt foxes in many ways but this manner of hunting is the kind the public most often associate with the term 'fox hunting'.
Hunting with hounds stirs up widespread and angry controversy. Detractors say it is immoral to chase and kill animals for fun and sport. Supporters of fox hunting say they are helping farmers to control foxes. It seems as though an unbridgeable division between social classes and town and country lifestyles obstructs a resolution between fox supporters and fox hunters. In Britain, for example, fox hunters are portrayed as wealthy, privileged or land-owning upper class. Fox supporters are depicted as lower class townies with no understanding of country life. But these are stereotypes, extreme positions; most people fall somewhere in between.
The Characters
The Huntsman

The person who controls the hounds. He decides where to go and what to do, carries a hunting horn, and tries to stay with the pack of hounds as much as possible.

I keep hearing on the news etc. that the country is divided on the issue blah blah blah, and that too much parliamentary time is taken up with it blah blah blah, and that people aren't interested?
Surely the chasing and visciously tearing up of small animals is cruel cruel cruel. Espescially when it is done simply for fun and jollies (even though huntsman say it is a service)
And yes it is taking up too much parliamentary time but that doesn't mean i ain't intersted. It should have been the first thing Labour did, together with the minimum wage, when they were elected
