What kind of dogs do you use
What is foxhunting? Foxhunting is the pursuit of wild foxes, red or gray, with hounds whose keen sense of smell enables them to follow the trail left by their quarry. When hounds are on the trail, they give voice, which enables the followers to tell by hearing, what the hounds are doing, if they cannot see them. The people following the hunt do so on horseback, by car or truck, and sometimes on foot.
Top . . .
What do you do when you catch the fox? We try not to catch the fox. The object is to chase him until he goes to ground (down his hole, or earth) and then to look for another fox to chase.
Top . . .

I'm a little confused. If you don't want to catch the fox, why chase him? That's a good question. We do it because we like to get outside in the countryside. We like to watch the hounds try to find the line of the fox and work it out. We love to hear hound music. We like the uncertainty of whether we will find a fox, and if we do, where he will lead us. We hope to catch a glimpse of him. (View him) We enjoy galloping around and getting covered with mud, soaked by rain or sweat, depending on the weather, slashed by brambles, whacked by tree limbs and other such thrills. We love to gallop until our legs feel like jelly. We love to jump big fences. We love the partnership between horse and rider that this sport requires. And, if we don't find a fox, and spend the day standing around, we still are satisfied by being outside and trying. We like spending time with our friends. And we have great parties afterwards where we tell lies about what we did.

http://www.banbloodsports.com/leaf-fox.htm
The Facts About Fox Hunting "The problem for both Irish and British hunting people is that their sport, no matter how traditional or how highly eulogised by its supporters, is a minority sport with the damning spectre of cruelty hanging over it. "This is the key issue. Is hunting cruel? The answer, of course, is that it is. How can such cruelty be justified? The answer is that it cannot." Nicholas O'Hare, hunting columnist, "The Irish Field" (1992) Hunting in Ireland Like the illegal activities of dogfighting, badger baiting and cockfighting, the only purpose served by foxhunting is to provide entertainment to a small minority of humans. It provides no measurable benefit to the environment and is ineffectual as a form of fox control. Arguments based on environmental benefit and fox control are sometimes used to try and give this blood sport a veneer of respectability but close scrutiny shows this to be very much flawed. There are 39 foxhunting packs registered with hunt governing body, the Masters of Foxhounds Association. No licence is needed by this body to hunt foxes since they are not a protected animal. The Hunt The hunters meet two or three times per week (varies for different hunts) during the foxhunting "season" which falls between November and April. Starting at about 11am they move off to the first area of covert (pronounced cover). Local landowners and sympathetic farmers will have previously kept the hunt informed of the whereabouts of foxes, and several suitable areas in the locality will have been identified.

What are these? By John Meagher Friday November 23 2007 The body in charge of Irish foxhunting is investigating claims that a fox was dug out of its den, tied up and then fed alive to hounds during a top hunt in Westmeath. The Irish Masters' of Foxhounds Association (IMFHA) has confirmed it is investigating the alleged barbaric incident which is said to have taken place during a Westmeath Hunt meet near Walderstown, Co Westmeath, on November 14. Such activity is strictly prohibited under the Code of Conduct drawn up by the Irish Hunting Association and sanctioned by the Department of Agriculture and Food. Rule seven states: "In no circumstances will a live fox which has been dug out be thrown to the hounds." A department spokesman confirmed they had been informed of the investigation and were monitoring the situation. The Westmeath Hunt, founded in 1854, is regarded as one of the country's most prominent hunts.

About Foxhunting When's the hunt? Foxhunting is the fine art of wandering aimlessly over hill and dale whilst loaded down with enough electronic equipment to singlehandedly repair the MIR space station... Seriously, (if that's possible), Foxhunting is a great way to learn about propagation, electronics, antennas, geography, and people to name just a few. It's all about a bunch of (crazy?) hams trying to locate a hidden transmitter, the "fox", within a predefined area, (usually a few miles), and a predetermined time (usually one to two hours). This is generally followed by a feast and lie-swapping session. Give it a try - You'll like it! NKARC foxhunts are held whenever
