Beginner through advanced classes are offered directly by the club as well as in partnership with the Cambridge and Boston Centers for Adult Education. KARATE Instructor's BEWARE! Are you teaching CARDIO KARATE or REAL KICKBOXING? Most likely, what you see being called or advertised as "KICKBOXING is not kickboxing AT ALL!
Kickboxing, like TaeKwonDo, Judo or Kenpo, is an ART and STYLE all it's own. It is not a term like AEROBICS that " Want to be " kickboxing instructors can use freely and misrepresent the sport with. Our Bagwork/Cardio Kickboxing classes focus on conditioning, coordination and weight management. What is Kick-Box Aerobics?
Kick-Box Aerobics is a cardio kickboxing class that is a hybrid of boxing, martial arts and aerobics done rhythmically to music. Cardio kickboxing is also known as aerobic kickboxing or fitness kickboxing. Offering an intense cross-training and total-body workout it utilizes the training routines used by martial artists in the sports of boxing and kickboxing. The objective of Kick-Box Aerobics is not to make a "fighter" out of you, but rather to give a balanced overall program that combines a cardio aerobic workout with the techniques for self-defense. In addition the classes provides fitness and strength training benefits because of the "resistance" when punching or kicking the heavy bags. There is no physical contact in the class - it is offered as an alternative to conventional aerobics. Unlike a traditional martial arts class, the music adds to your stimulation and motivation. Unlike an aerobics class, there are numerous techniques you can learn beyond the basics to maintain your interest level. Classes go by fast because there is so much going on.
