Back to Home Page Areas of Study: Sexology Sexology Minor Stream : Overview A number of Undergraduate Degrees allow students to select a minor stream, consisting of four units from a particular area that generally complements their major area of study. Students that undertake the Sexology Minor Stream come from many different courses, some of the most common being Psychology, Social Work, Public Health, Sociology and other humanities and health science-based areas. The four units that make up the Sexology Minor Stream are Sexology 350, Sexology 353, Sexology 450 and Sexology 453. These must be studied in sequence as each one is a pre-requisite for the next. Students generally complete the units over a period of four consecutive semesters. Sexology 350 is available in both Semester 1 and Semester 2. Sexology 353 and 453 are offered only in Semester 2, and Sexology 450 is only offered in Semester 1. All units are only available on an internal basis on Bentley campus. To enrol in the Sexology Minor Stream, you need permission from the Course Coordinator of your major area of study. Due to the popularity of these classes, we recommend that you do not delay your enrolment as places are limited and every semester we have a waiting list.

It is easily understandable because human sexuality is part of the fundamental drives motivating human beings. Studies of human sexuality enjoy a long tradition in the Czech Republic. In the year 1921 the Institute of Sexology was established at the medical faculty of Charles University and still exists. It is something of a miracle that sexology in our country survived the restrictions of the communist regime which was very hostile to humanitarian disciplines. In the period before the Second World War there was very abundant communication between Czech sexologists and the international scientific public. In the year 1932 the final session of the famous „League for Sexual Reform“ was held in Brno. Our mutual contacts became more regular and frequent in the time following the Velvet Revolution. Nevertheless in the year 1969 one of the first international sexological congresses was held in Prague. In the year 1979 the IASR met on the initiative of Jan Raboch. The Czech Sexological Society became a member of WAS (World Association of Sexology) and EFS (European Federation of Sexology).
