Co-founded by Elinor Ostrom and Vincent Ostrom as a research enterprise within the Department of Political Science in 1973, the Workshop became an official research center on the Bloomington campus at Indiana University in 1975. Aims and Scope: New Political Science is the official journal of the Caucus for a New Political Science (CNPS), an Organized Section of the American Political Science Association, and serves as an organ for its goals and interests. The CNPS was formed in order to help make the study of politics relevant to the struggle for a better world. As an educational organization, it offers a forum for diverse positions within the framework of this struggle. At the same time, it recognizes that political study and criticism, if it is to be effective, must ultimately transcend the barriers of professionalism and become a function of the community as a whole. Accordingly, New Political Science seeks access to general as well as specialized audiences.

After a period of dormancy for the Political Science Forum, we are making an extra effort to see it reorganized and rejuvenated for this coming Fall. It is envisioned that the Forum may organize a current issues series of evening events, in each case featuring either a video or a speaker followed by discussion, perhaps including a member of the political science faculty as a resource person, if desired. This club is open to all students, whether or not they are majors or concentrates in political science.
    Internship Program
Among the roles of CCSU interns this semester were working for the House Chair of Appropriations Committee, for members of the House majority leadership, as well as for legislative leaders in the Senate, and work related to such matters as the appointment of minority judges, regulating health care, and auto safety legislation. One intern spent the semester with New Britain's new mayor. If you are interested in earning credit for political or administrative experience, see Professor Antonia Moran, who administers the political science department's internship program. She is a lawyer by training, having earned her J.D. from the University of Connecticut Law School, with experience as a lobbyist as well. Professor Moran teaches our courses in constitutional law, civil liberties, administrative law, and women and American law, as well as sections of state and local government and American government.
