People began to settle in areas with abundant natural resources. A section of the Middle East is called the Fertile Crescent. The Fertile Crescent is a rich food-growing area in a part of the world where most of the land is too dry for farming. The Fertile Crescent is a crescent shaped region that extends from the eastern shore of the Mediterranean Sea to the Persian Gulf. NEXT: Gilgamesh To cite this page:

Geosense Test your knowledge of world geography alone or against another online player.
Donations...
For the last few months I have had my email address removed from the game. It was turning into too much work to answer emails. Most were related to the language used in the chatroom. (mostly from parents and teachers) Otherwise the emails were nice comments about the game and ideas for improvements. Often improvements I would love to make.
Like everybody, I have bills to pay and a job that keeps me busy. What it comes down to is that I just don't have the time to either monitor the game or to make improvements.
This site has been up for two years and has not made me money. (it was never meant to) Over the two years the money from ads has covered my server costs.
There has to be some accountability about what goes on around here so my email address is back up.
Here it is... mark@geosense.net
I hope to answer emails promptly but if I do not, please understand.
Someone suggested that I ask for donations to support the site. That seems like a good idea, I would much rather do that than place more ads. Any donations made will allow me to spend more time looking after the site.

Rutgers Geography Today
The Department of Geography is the administrative unit for the undergraduate program. Rutgers offers both a major and a minor option at this level. Since its inception, the Graduate Program has remained an independent administrative entity from the Department and its undergraduate component and has maintained an extended faculty. Despite this distinctness, there is considerable overlap in use of facilities and significant participation by graduate students and graduate faculty members in departmental affairs and activities. The home page reflects this structure by offering direct access to either graduate or undergraduate education information, as well as a more general overview of the shared aspects of the Department.
All students benefit from the location of Rutgers Geography. In Central New Jersey, they can draw upon the varied and rich resources at Rutgers and in the New York metropolitan region. The university's proximity to the diverse physical environments of the mid-Atlantic region and its ties to many state, national and international organizations combine to provide abundant geographical research opportunities, permit work on a wide range of problems and draw on strong interdisciplinary ties.
A Brief History
The Rutgers Department of Geography was inaugurated on April 6, 1949, although geography had been taught in one form or another since the beginning of the University as Queen's College in 1766. Simeon DeWitt, one of the first graduates of Queen's College, became a geographer for the Revolutionary Army and subsequently for the State of New York, where he was responsible for surveying and mapping much of the classical place-name belt in the west-central portion of that state.

Description Attractions Directions ... Weather
This spectacular cliff-and-canyon landscape and wilderness is full of the unexpected, including the astonishing span of Kolob Arch, the world's longest at 310 feet. Zion is a showcase of geology. Geologic processes have played a very visible role in shaping the terrain here, where an arid climate and sparse vegetation allow the exposure of large expanses of bare rock and thus reveal geologic history in a way not possible in wetter lands clothed in vegetation. Mule deer, golden eagles, mountain lions and many other desert-adapted species inhabit the 229 square miles of Zion.
