Northeast Anthropology is a journal dedicated to scholarly investigations and reports from the northeastern United States and adjacent Canadian provinces. It is a bi-annual publication covering a wide range of anthropological issues including archaeology, linguistics, physical and cultural perspectives. The traditonal strengths of the journal have been in the areas of archaeology and ethnohistory, but we are very interested in broadening the scholarly base and readership. New subscribers or people seeking renewals should visit the Subscription page, and authors are invited to check out our publication instructions by clicking the Author's Guide button, to your left. Background, Functions, and Purposes:
The unequivocal need to identify forensic scientists qualified to provide essential professional services for the nation's judicial and executive branches of government has long been recognized. In response to this professional mandate, the American Board of Forensic Anthropology was organized in 1977 to provide, in the interest of the public and the advancement of the science, a program of certification in forensic anthropology. In purpose, function, and organization, the ABFA is thus analogous to the certifying boards in various medical specialities and scientific fields. Certification is based upon the candidate's personal and professional record of education and training, experience, and achievement, as well as on results of formal examinations.

    Anthropology Collection Database
    Contents:
Introduction The permanent research collection of the Department of Anthropology comprises nearly 16,000 objects, most of which are ethnographic. The Department actively collects materials from the indigenous cultures of western North America (exclusive of Mexico) and the Pacific Rim, including all Pacific islands and East Asia. Current strengths of the collection are general holdings from the U.S. Southwest and the Pacific Islands, and basketry from California. Earlier years of collecting have yielded both ethnographic and archaeological materials from East Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and Central and South America. The database includes digital images of collection objects. Currently there are over 11,000 images available, documenting the areas of strength in the collection. Digital photographing of the remainder of the collection is an ongoing project.

    Introduction
The Ur-List: Web Resources for Visual Anthropology facilitates web searches by cross-indexing three hundred and seventy-five anthropological sites according to the categories of information they contain. The Ur-List's cross-index is more accurate than most Web-resource guides which typically reduce a site's multifaceted content to only one category. In the Ur-List, sites may be accessed according to the twenty-two subject-categories listed above. Multifaceted sites are cross-referenced under all appropriate categories. A mouse-click selection of any of the subject-categories gives access to two kinds of Web resources. The first is dedicated exclusively to the subject that was selected. For example, Wendy Vissar's dark visual ethnography of rural Albania, Lekso's Codebox is listed only once under the "Dedicated Sites" heading of "Visual Ethnographies" (Category 5). The second kind of resources accessed are listed under multiple Ur-List categories.
