  • U.S. Dedicated Research : Indian Philosophy and Anthropic Cosmological Principle
Anthropic Web of the Universe: Atom and Atman
by Plamen Gradinarov Vol.39 No.1 (January 1989), pp. 27-46 University of Hawaii Press Addressing topics in and modern cosmology The main arguments of Vaisesika in favor of the all-pervasiveness of Atman amount to a number of cosmological and physical premises. If Atman lacked all-pervasion, the cosmo-evolutionary process would not have been started at all, for there would be no 'simultaneous conjunction with atoms from other regions of space'. The simultaneous conjunction of atoms is necessary for putting the great vehicle of the Universe into motion. Mahesvara, when taken as transcendental entity irrelevant to man, cannot explain the simultaneity of the initial cosmo-synthetic process; nor should one rely upon adrsta. Neither the great Lord of the Universe nor the unseen force count as legitimate categories of the

Feminist anthropology can be divided into three approximate temporal categories. Today feminist anthropology is a subset within cultural anthropology
    http://www.indiana.edu/~wanthro/fem.htm
FEMINIST ANTHROPOLOGY Angela Bratton HISTORY THEORY ORGANIZATIONS SOURCES ... DIAGRAM Feminist Anthropology can be divided into three approximate temporal categories. The first division is from 1850 to 1920 and is also referred to as the first wave or suffrage feminism. Up to this point ethnographies and much research in general had been done primarily by men for men. It also presumed that biological sex determined the individual’s roles in society. What the first wave feminist sought to do was include women’s voices in ethnography and also to give a female perspective to events. This opened up a completely new perspective, since male ethnographers had generally only had access to other males, and therefore, could only observe them or could only get their accounts of what women were like or what they were supposed to be like. The Journal of American Folklore (Deacon 1997). Women of the Grassfields , focuses on women’s work and rural development, a notion that has not been re-examined closely until recently when anthropologists working on development issues suggested that all the existing economic models for development totally ignored women’s’ labor contributions. Coming of Age in Samoa and later Sex and Temperament Her influence extended beyond anthropology because it was so popular among general audiences (McGee and Warms 1996).

    35. Carleton College: Spanish
    Sociology and anthropology (Northfield, MN)
    http://www.carleton.edu/curricular/SOAN/index.html
The Spanish section of the Romance Languages Department aims to serve majors and non-majors alike by offering courses of general interest and humanistic value to any student seeking a liberal arts education. The primary objective of all Spanish courses numbered 1 through 6 is to impart the various skills necessary to use this language in the written and oral forms. However, consistent with this main objective, these courses also have a significant cultural and humanistic content. Acquaintance with a foreign language is undoubtedly a useful tool - perhaps indispensable - to learn and appreciate a foreign culture. Likewise it greatly enhances the knowledge of our own language, which contributes to our ability to communicate. North American students should not overlook the fact that Spanish is not only one of the two or three most widely used languages in the world, but that it is native to a very large sector of our own American population and coexists with English in a good third of the continental United States. Therefore, it is recommended for those students interested in social, racial and urban problems and affairs since Spanish is in all probability the foreign language most frequently used by minority groups. As for the literature courses, they give us a sharper awareness of human nature with its deepest concerns, its problems and aspirations; they refine our sensitivity to our fellow men and women, to ourselves and to the world about us, thus making it possible to lead a fuller, more meaningful and human life. They are also meant to develop aesthetic sensitivity and give students an understanding of the various literary movements, genres and forms by analyzing specific representative works, and pointing out similarities, differences, relationships, and relevance to our society and our lives.

As of September of 1997, the Journal of World Anthropology (JWA) has been shelved to make room for a new project, the Anthropological Review Database (ARD). All items published in JWA are of course still accessible via the links below JWA has been a rewarding experience, and it has been our great pleasure to bring important information to the world through the Internet. But we have come to realise that we are not creating as effective a resource as we would like. Production scheduling has been difficult and we have not been able to make the best use of our time and other resources. Despite the fact that we were publishing in an electronic format, we seemed to encounter all the problems and frustrations of a print journal. While publishing JWA we became aware that there seems to be no readily accessible and comprehensive source for review information. While anthropology is producing an ever-growing and increasingly varied range of information, to an rapidly growing number of scholars, many of the mainstream periodicals seem to be moving away from publishing this information.
