AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
  • To promote the preservation, investigation and publication of archaeological information.
  • To organize professional, amateur and lay people interested in Manitoba archaeology.
  • To foster the study and teaching of archaeology throughout the province.
  • To enlist the aid of all citizens in reporting, preserving and recording archaeological sites.
  • To raise money through donations, grants, contracts, etc. to promote the endeavours of the Society. The MAS puts out the Manitoba Archaeological Journal (two issues a year) and the Manitoba Archaeological Newsletter (four issues a year), which are distributed to all our members.

    I've been asked to send along this request from the United States Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP) for members of the public to respond to proposed changes in its policy covering the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act. The following is pretty much verbatim of what was sent to me. The page with a downloadable version of the Federal Register report is located on the ACHP website . Comments are due November 4, 2005.
