I am researching my family names as follows:-
ENGLAND:
Essex - Wiseman; Harrison
Southwark, Lambeth, Wandsworth, Surrey - Broom[e]; Baldry; Higgs; Butler; Daniels; Elsam.
Upton-on-Severn, Worcs. - Higgs
Somerset - Munden; Pittard; Dinham.
ORKNEY, SCOTLAND:
Wishart; Smith; Harcus; Redland; Scott; Paterson; Groat; Tait; Spence and many others.
I also have various other family trees originating in Orkney, along with some female lines in all my trees and welcome contacts from anyone connected to any of the surnames above or in my trees.
These family trees contain all my Orkney and English family lines. The English families originated from Suffolk, Norfolk, Worcester and Somerset, UK. The Orkney families originate in Orkney [off the north coast of Scotland, UK]. The information has been researched and gathered by myself over many years from all the usual sources and includes some family lines which are the collaboration of several researchers who have allowed me to include their research in some of the tree lines. Of course there is more information than shown here on a lot of these families so if anyone thinks they may be connected and wishes to exchange information please get in touch. Many thanks to all those [too numerous to mention] who have helped expand these trees with their own family information - see some of the Links for their web pages.

John Wishart 's family moved from Montrose to Perth in Scotland when John was two years old. He attended Perth Academy and then, in 1916, entered the University of Edinburgh. There he was taught mathematics by E T Whittaker World War I meant that Wishart's university career was disrupted. He spent two years from 1917 to 1919 in the Black Watch regiment and served in France in 1918. He completed his university course in 1922, graduating with a First Class degree in mathematics and physics. He had taken a teacher training course at Moray House as part of his degree and, after graduating, he moved to Leeds accepting a post as mathematics teacher at West Leeds High School. In 1924, after a recommendation from Whittaker , Wishart was offered a post in University College, London, as assistant to Pearson . Now Pearson had a project for Wishart to work on and, given that

John Knox
The Early Years of John Knox
John Knox first publicly professed the Protestant faith about the end of 1545. His mind had in all probability been directed to that faith for some time before the change was avowed. The immediate instrument of his actual conversion was probably George Wishart, who, after a period of banishment, returned to his native country in 1544, to perish, within two years, at the stake, as the last and most illustrious of the victims of Cardinal Beaton. Among other places where he preached the Reformed doctrines Wishart had come to East Lothian in Dec., 1545, and there he made Knox's acquaintance.
While residing in the castle of St.Andrews, a stronghold and place of refuge for many Protestants, in July of 1547, the castle was seized by outside forces and John Knox became a French galley-slave for nineteen months. There he experienced hardships and miseries which are said to have permanently injured his health. On his release, which took place early in 1549, through the intervention, apparently, of the English government, Knox found that in the existing state of the country, he could be of little use in his beloved Scotland. For nearly ten years, he submitted to voluntary exile, like many of the worthiest of his countrymen in those troublous times. All these years, however, he devoted himself to ministerial labors in connection with the Reformed Church. His duty was provided for him in England, for the space of about five years as a minister of the English Church.

He was master of a grammar school in Montrose. In 1538 he fled Scotland to escape charges of heresy; he was in England for a short time, then on the Continent. In 1544 he is thought to have returned to Scotland, where he traveled about at his peril, preaching Christianity as he conceived it. The most eventful result of his preaching was the conversion of John Knox . Cardinal Beaton instigated Wishart's arrest. He was tried for heresy (1546), convicted, and burned at St. Andrews. His followers murdered Beaton in retaliation. Wishart's translation of the Helvetic Confession was published posthumously (c.1548). Bibliography See biography by J. These distributions are of great importance in the estimation of covariance matrices in multivariate statistics
Definition of the Wishart distribution
The definition is as follows. Suppose i.e. X is a p —1 column-vector-valued random variable (a "random vector") that is normally distributed , whose expected value is the p —1 column vector whose entries are all zero, and whose variance is the p p nonnegative definite matrix V . We have
E X
and
var( X E X X E X X V
where the transpose of any matrix A is denoted A Further suppose X X n are independent and identically distributed. Then the Wishart distribution is the probability distribution of the p p random matrix One indicates that S has that probability distribution by writing The positive integer n is the number of degrees of freedom If p = 1 and V = 1 then this distribution is a chi-square distribution.
