From "The Storied Province of Quebec Past and Present"
Ed. Col. William Wood, Dominion Publishing Company, Limited, Toronto 1931

Prominant business executive and citizen of Montreal, Edwin H. Wilson has had a career of usefulness to the greater community. He is widely known in the Dominion. Edwin H. Wilson was born September 6, 1875, in Montreal, son of James Crockett Wilson and Jeanie Kilgour , and received his academic instruction in the public schools of his native city. In 1892, at the age of sixteen, he left Montreal to work in his father's paper mill, at Lachute. He engaged actively in the workings of all departments therin, beginning as a junior clerk, acquainting himself with the business from all points of view. in 1899, at his father's death, he took charge of the mills. His brother, Frank Howard Wilson , two years his senior, took charge of head office in Montreal. In 1893 mill production was doubled and again in 1901. In 1913, the Wilson plant at 1061 St. Alexander Street, Montreal, was built, and today, in this plant, are employed five hundred workers. There are other units for paper manufacture and sale in Winnipeg, Vancouver, Lachute and St. Jerome. The company is the largest of it's category in the Dominion. They manufacture wrapping paper, paper bags, toilet paper, envelopes etcetera; and the volume and mill efficiency attained has been largely due to the ability of Mr. Wilson. In 1928, on the illness of his brother, Edwin H. Wilson became president and assumed full charge of the corperation's business. He has continued in charge, and it's affairs have prospered well under his direction.

Mount Wilson Observatory measured the size of the Universe, found the first evidence in favour of the Big Bang and this month celebrates its 100th birthday.
The observatory found the first evidence to support the Big Bang Although astronomers are usually only interested in the latest, greatest and biggest telescope, they are all raising a glass and fondly reminiscing about the most important observatory of the 20th Century. It was 20 December, 1904, when George Ellery Hale first received news that the Carnegie Institution was prepared to fund his new observatory in the sum of $150,000. This was a huge relief to Hale, who had already spent $27,000 of his own money financing his dream. In fact, when the Carnegie Institution telephoned with the good news, Hale was at Martin's Camp, a small mountain resort about one mile below the summit of Mount Wilson, where he was planning the next stage of construction. Mount Wilson, in the San Gabriel Mountains outside Los Angeles, would become home to the largest telescopes in the world for the next four decades.

Considered by many track and field experts to be the most versatile runner who has ever lived, the Moroccan Said Aouita holds the current world record in five running events: the 1,500, 2,000, 3,000, and 5,000 meters and the two miles. He is also a two-time Olympic medalist who captured the gold in the 5,000 meters at the 1984 Games in Los Angeles and the bronze in the 800 meters at the 1988 Games in Seoul. A national hero in Morocco, Aouita has been treated for leg injuries by King Hassan II's personal physician, and his portrait hangs next to that of the king in many Moroccan shops and other public places. Yet, in spite of his remarkable athletic ability, Said Aouita is viewed with disfavor by many in the running community because of his boastfulness and blatant self-aggrandizement. He often belittles other top middle-distance runners and, after breaking his own world record in the 5,000 meters in 1987, publicly proclaimed himself "the greatest runner in the world." A fierce competitor, Aouita, according to the British runner Steve Ovett, "approaches the sport with an almost religious fervor" and is "the only guy...who gets disappointed when he only breaks three world records in a year." As Aouita told Kenny Moore during an interview for Sports Illustrated (June 23, 1986), "The evening before each meet, I don't tell myself I'm there to set a record, but that I am a Moroccan warrior who has to do battle."

James Q. Wilson Will Deliver Edwin L. Godkin Lecture Series
James Q. Wilson, the James Collins Professor of Management and Public Policy at UCLA, will deliver this year's Edwin L. Godkin Lecture Series, entitled "It's Not My Fault: Law, Science, and Personal Responsibility."
In a telephone interview, Wilson stated, "In the aftermath of several prominent criminal trials, some observers have criticized American justice for being too vulnerable to an 'abuse excuse.' I hope to examine that possibility in a way that shifts the grounds of this important debate."
He will deliver the first lecture, "Self-Control," on Monday, April 15, at 8 p.m. in the Kennedy School of Government's ARCO Forum of Public Affairs. The second lecture, "Self-Defense," and the third lecture, "Law and Responsibility," will be delivered on April 16 and 17, respectively, at 7 p.m. in Starr Auditorium at the Kennedy School. All three lectures are open to the public.
James Q. Wilson has been the James Collins Professor of Management and Public Policy at UCLA since 1985. Before that, he was the Shattuck Professor of Government at Harvard for 26 years. He has authored or coauthored 13 books, including

Ed Wilson's Revenge
The Biggest CIA Scandal in History Has Its Feet in the Starting Blocks in a Houston Court House
by Michael C. Ruppert
[The following article appeared in the January, 2000 issue of From The Wilderness - The following is written after examining more than 900 pages of documents, in four volumes, filed since last September, in Houston Federal Court, by attorneys representing former CIA operative Edwin P. Wilson and the United States Department of Justice. As strange as it may seem, FTW assures you that there is a document on file or an on-the-record quote to support everything we now tell you. According to Barcella, who gave a detailed interview to FTW for this story, the Judge's ruling raised serious security concerns for the Justice Department. The CIA records issue still needed to be addressed from another angle - and quickly. Wilson's defense had already made the case that the CIA had known and sanctioned the activities for which he was now on trial. That position needed to be countered in the rebuttal phase before the case went to the jury. Time was running out.
