The advantage of the Turan sieve is that it is "Mobius function free". Thus, in a combinatorial setting, this sieve method has wider applications and we explore some of these, such as getting good estimates for the number of proper colorings of the vertices of a graph. From this proof, a method was developed to assist in the analysis of the normal order of sequences. A consequence of this method is the Turan Sieve. In this talk, I will introduce you to elementary sieve theory, and two different developments of the Turan Sieve, and demonstrate some examples of its usefulness, as well as some its disadvantages.
