Litigation Release No. 18654 / April 1,2004
Accounting and Auditing Enforcement
Release No. 1985 / April 1, 2004
SECURITIES AND EXCHANGE COMMISSION v. WILLIAM W. FREISE, , Civil Action No. 1:04CV00531 (D.D.C.) (filed March 31, 2004).
IN THE MATTER OF DAVID T. THOMSON CPA, AND DAVID T. THOMSON PC, Admin. Proc. No. 3-11453, Exchange Act Rel. No. 34-49516 (April 1, 2004).
SEC SUES WILLIAM W. FREISE, FORMER PRESIDENT AND DIRECTOR OF POWERBALL INTERNATIONAL INC., FOR ALTERING COMPANY BANK STATEMENTS TO CONCEAL FRAUD
FORMER POWERBALL AUDITORS DENIED PRIVILEGE OF APPEARING OR PRACTICING BEFORE SEC FOR TWO YEARS FOR IMPROPER PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT
On March 31, 2004, the Commission filed an injunctive action against William W. Freise ("Freise"), alleging that during the period June 2002 through April 2003, Freise, the former president and director of Powerball International Inc. ("Powerball"), falsified company records to hide his theft of $7,200, and to hide his failure to pay $40,000 for stock he had received through the exercise of warrants. The Complaint alleges that in order to conceal his fraud, Freise altered monthly bank statements for Powerball's bank account, which made that account appear to contain a substantially higher cash balance than it actually contained. The Complaint alleges that Freise knew that Powerball's financial statements and its reports to the Commission would reflect such false cash balances. As a result of such conduct, Powerball materially misstated its financial statements for the quarters ended June 30, 2002 and September 30, 2002 and for the year ended December 31, 2002.

124. Alexander Greek Thomson - Architect
A guide to thomson's architectural work in Glasgow by Gerry Blaikie, part of his Glasgow and Edinburgh A trail of two cities, illustrated with his own drawings of buildings.
http://www.scotcities.com/greekthomson.htm
Alexander Thomson Alexander Thomson was born at Balfron in Stirlingshire in 1817.
He spent his working life as an architect in and around Glasgow until his death in 1875. He created some of the most unique secular and ecclesiastical buildings of the Victorian era, blending neo-classical conventionality with Egyptian and oriental themes to produce buildings which have few equals anywhere when it comes to sheer originality.
Caledonia Road Church, Gorbals Caledonia Road Church, Gorbals, was Alexander Thomson's first church in the city, built in 1857. It has an unconventional asymmetric layout which follows the edges of the surrounding roads. It is built in an unusual combination of styles with ancient Greek and provincial Italian elements placed side by side.
The depopulation of the Gorbals left the church without a congregation by 1962. It then was abandoned to dereliction until it was severely damaged by fire in 1965.
The shell of the church still survives and is now floodlit at night to become one of Glasgow's architectural attractions. St Vincent Street Church St Vincent Street Church, to the west of the city centre, was completed in 1859. The constituent parts display different styles, with a typical Thomson Greek temple placed alongside an exotic clock tower which shows more oriental influences. The windows on the four sides of the tower each feature paired sculptured faces looking in on one another.

Companion material from the PBS series I Hear America Singing notes his life and his work as composer and music critic.

VIRGIL GARNETT THOMSON
A s America celebrates the centenary of Virgil Thomson's birth in 1896 with revivals of his works and a new biography in preparation, there is increasing awareness of what a musician's musician this composer and critic truly was. As a composer he created over 150 compositions which skillfully melded indigenous and cosmopolitan influences, while as a writer and lecturer, he devoted himself energetically to elevating musical standards and taste, to creating a wider public for classical music, and to creating a legacy of some of the most elegant, urbane, and intelligent prose that modern music journalism has witnessed.
Returning to Harvard in 1922, he took his degree in 1923. For the next three years he commuted between New York and Boston where he served as organist for the King's Chapel, and he began to contribute serious music journalism to publications like Mencken's American Mercury and Vanity Fair. It was not long, however, before Europe would once again exert its siren call, and for the next sixteen years he would cross the Atlantic frequently. In 1927 he journeyed to Spain to collaborate with Gertrude Stein on their opera, FOUR SAINTS IN THREE ACTS, which they completed in 1928. That same year also produced his SYMPHONY ON A HYMN TUNE, as well as the first of a genre he can be credited with inventing: the musical portrait. FOUR SAINTS received its premiere in Hartford in 1934 with an all-black cast in an extraordinary visual production with choreography by Frederick Ashton. This was followed by a second collaboration with Stein, based on the life of suffragette Susan B. Anthony, THE MOTHER OF US ALL, which premiered in 1946 shortly before Stein's death. In the intervening years Thomson created film and ballet scores as well as incidental music for the theatre and visited Paris until the Nazi occupation forced him to flee. Back in New York in 1940, he settled into his final home, The Chelsea Hotel, and accepted a job as music critic for the Herald Tribune, which he retained until 1954. After his resignation from the paper he devoted himself to a third opera, LORD BYRON, and to writing his autobiography in 1966 and his book AMERICAN MUSIC SINCE 1910 in 1971.
